You have just described the feeling that every monger on this board had at one time or another. You just have to find a provider or two from research who can be trusted, and who are willing to see noobs (they are out there), then make the call and take the plunge. There's really no substitute for experience to develop your own criteria for who seems safe and who doesn't. The only way to get experience is to get over your paranoia and do it.
That said, the first step is research. Spend a few hours reading back through the posts here. Read, read, read, and when you're tired of reading, read some more. There is a wealth of information in these pages, not only discussing particular girls, but also identifying behavior, traits and circumstances that other mongers see as red flags or as signs that a either good or bad experience is likely to follow. Read everything you can find here and on other sites, and any read any reviews you can find on any provider you're interested in contacting.

Best advice I could give is to only see reviewed providers until you hone your spidey sense. Plenty of them here and on similar sites.
As your research skills improve you could venture into the unknown with come degree of confidence, but from your question it wouldn't appear that you're there yet.
