I keep a spreadsheet to remind me how much money I'm wasting on this hobby to have self control. I make 80k a year, so 5% goes into this hobby.

Lots of great American companies that you would recognize: Procter & Gamble, 3 M, Coca-Cola, Johnson & Johnson, etc. They are also generally less risky than the highest dividend payers, which can be a more tricky place to invest. The dividends paid by these the companies are golden, and they almost always go UP every year.

I love the idea of hiding the money from your wife like that. Genius move!
