There was an open chair at the bar so I sat myself down there. After I got my beer they also brought pupus. They said that they gave raffle tickets if you bought a beer but the korean or whatever young guy next to me they gave about 10 tickets while I got 1. I stayed for 2 drawings (they had one every half hour). I wasn't interested in $10 vouchers anyway but it didn't seem fair that the favored guys were getting lots of raffle tickets.

You should have taken my suggestion instead of the usual let the favorite regulars win BS. Don't you understand you need to cater to the NEW customers to attract and get future regulars? Even if your regulars complain they still going come cause they already regulars. The new guys checking out the bar just going think you playing the same ole same ole BS and going someplace else. Eh Maya, check post #6499 before you do your grand opening and remember what kind reviews winner8 and Pharoahs had regarding their raffle. Think outside the box and let us get in the girl's box! LOL

I know only oldies in both places but they give it up on the cheap. Which one do you think is better?

Or should I just go to an AMP and get my monies worth. Never been to an AMP yet but a porn site called happy tugs got me curious.

As M69 mentioned earlier there was a raffle for money vouchers on Wednesday at Pharoah, but it started early around 8PM. The catch is the voucher has to be used by the 14th and you can't buy a girls drink. There were some young ones in school girl outfits and it does look better than the evening gown night with the girls running around holding their dresses up. The food was nothing special even though they had BBQ pork chops cooking outside.

Seriously, by now you should have figured out that "Grand Opening" is nothing more than a marketing ritual. I have seen bars go through slow times and change names (with no other material changes) , just so they can have a "Grand Opening". But in the bar and restaurant business, it is standard practice to have a "soft opening" then when you get your 5h!T together, have a "Grand Opening", later.

Went to Spalsh last night. Sat myself at the bar and there was a pretty hot bartender who reminded me of Yura who used to work there. There was a group of guys in the back sitting with mama, and the bartender was on their table dancing. Any info on who she is and if play is available?

There is no guarantee that the new customers will spend any money on the girls or at the bar.

You see it all the time, at camelot, patty gives her good customers shirts and other stuff on their anniversary or special occasions. Us guys that don't spend money get jack.

At some bars during their anniversary they bring pupus out for the anniversary, but you will only see the preferred customers getting the special stuff.

That's okay with me as I won't spend much anyway. Guess the mama's know that. They won't think outside the box because they want to cater to the guys who spend the money and would rather give them the good stuff over guys they don't know.

Hey guys, sorry this isn't a report I would like to start by letting you know I have never been to a kb before but would like to experience it for myself. I have only gone to strip clubs za, nu's. Where would you guys suggest going?

Kind of stimulus and response. Customer spends money, then gets special treatment. Also, I've noticed (as a generalization) the spenders are usually low maintenance for the house but cheapskates are whiners and just a headache all around. (Not addressing this at anyone in particular. I'm just sayin'.)

Used to be a time when it was guys would always leave a decent tip, enough to cover the food. It was just known that you do this. No longer. Conversely, I remember a time where KB protocol had it that girls were not allowed to hit on guys sitting at the bar, only at tables. The bar was the bartender's turf. So if you wanted to drink and not get hit on for nekohana, one would sit at the bar.

These days, there don't seem to be any rules.

Like alot of longtime bargoers, I AVOID grand openings now as greed levels are higher then and as HeadLock said, marketing ploy. Seems like only 1 guy liked my idea anyway, hehe. Would have been so cool if a first time to kb goer won the grand prize. That mama would get my respect even tho many would say she stupid, hehe. He might never go kb again but the fair play reputation earned would reap monetary gains in the future. Theres another saying, almost all successful endevours started as a crazy idea.

The 5 minutes you wait while the car is being wash you can talk to the other girls. All in all, it's about the same amount of 'talk' time you get for $20 anyways.

Another opportunity for ms to make money during the slow afternoon hours. It's all about resource utilization.

My advice would be,"Don't go." KB's are a low percentage venue for mongering. But if you are dead set on it, go with someone who's been before. Leave your plastic at home.

Uki's route will take you by many bars but they just aren't as exciting or fun as 'back in the day'. Most of the girls are in their 20's to 30's. Kalihi bars have older (40 to 50+) women if you prefer, but they are usually especially dead.

Bars vary in almost every measurable sense; even the same bar can seem very different the next time you go. Not trying to suggest that you go chronically, but just wanted to mention their potentially irregular nature.

Personally, I wouldn't hand an unfamiliar hostess who serves your order any large bills (such as 50's or 100's, for which one would expect a substantial amount of change) just to avoid any 'misunderstandings', regardless of which bar you are in.

If you got any questions try asking the bar backs, they are usually local guys and very helpful.

Most of the women may not even appeal to you to. Then, you say: "Damn, this is boring. Where's the action?" They want instant excitement. In a Strip Bar, they see a nice naked chick onstage, they get excited right away. If they go hostess bars, they think and want to see instant excitement to: "So what, if I buy these girls drinks, I going get BJ from her?" "What she going do to me if she sit by me?" "I can bang her if I take her back room?" "Why would I buy $20 drinks to have a girl sit by me and talk story?"

Then they will close for only 3 days to fix up the place. I thought it would take longer so we'll see when it reopens. If you ask me they need to do a lot of renovations to get rid of Miki's stench, LOL.

I asked one of Miki's girls if they are going to the picnic but it might be for Maya's girls only. I also asked her if Miki ever had something like that, she said that Miki never did anything for anyone but herself. Nobody ever remembers if Miki every bought a customer a free drink either. Doesn't seem like she will be missed either.

Yes they are going to be open till Sunday, then close Monday thru Thursday and then reopen on Friday. Maya's bartenders were working behind the bar.

Butterfly was about half full which is pretty good for them, but the girls were not really busy.

Pharoah was still bringing in the crowd, but there were noisy Koreans in the corner so left early.

Very true. But none of the bars in any part of the island have as much action as the old days. Kalihi bars do have older women, but there are occasional hotties. Problem is that they know it and the contrast enhances this. IOW, they look that much better when surrounded by fuglies. Because they know this, they tend to be either princesses or ROBs.

Go further west to Aiea/Pearl City and it is even worse. The few decent looking ones don't work regularly and few play. There are some that put out, but they are pretty skanky and not recommended. Definitely not recommended for the KB n00b. I am not even going to talk about Waipahu. Sadly there was a time when there was talent and action in Waipahu. Those were the days.

Don't have much intel on Wahiawa, but the former owner of Diamond Castle (now Waimalu Colorful) runs a strip bar up that way. Have not been in those parts for a long time, but my recollection was mostly strip bars and not much in the way of KBs.

LA KB / What is after Kimchi for non-korean in LA?

I visted three places in the area (mainland) and sat at the bar. The first place closed for three month and reopened last month. Shared a Hiti with mamasan and tipped her $10. This was two years ago. New owner not friendly.

Recently visted two new places one was having a Grand Opening. Asked what is the promotion from the owner? He mentioned it is a Korean full bar and the beer price is $8 for Hiti (22 oz) and $6 for Coors light (12 oz) and Koreans binge drink not like Americans. Only bartender is friendly and speaks Japanese, Korean and English, shy speaking it. First time the Hiti tab was $34 with peanuts + tip of 15. Second time Tequila shots ($10) & beer including kimchi & peanuts the tab $58 + 20 tip.

Visted the third place after many attempts, often claiming to be closed. The mamsan is very flirty with the Koreans. Had a couple of Hiti and paid at each serving, asked for food and told it is very expensive $25. I saw others having it and looked like grilled fish. She put some roasted peanuts out. Mamsan spent very little time and big group to entertain and arrange sitting for the BG. I left a 15% tip as I was being ignored. My first time at this location.

Is this heading to a back room massage?

Ogle at the shiny paint, feel the soft leather, listen to the purring engine, but at the end of the night, don't buy it, just go home, no matter how much the sales guy pushes. Unless you look like you can afford it, they won't let you test drive "it". But if you are fortunate enough to test drive "it", you're sold (or the small head is). Enormous payments for ever, and the daily maintenance will kill you. And by the way, everyone gets to drive your car too! Trying to keep "it" locked in your garage won't work,"it" will want to visit her friends in the bar to boast to all her girl enemies. And every guy with a 20, will be tempting her to just have a drink and they will be feeling the upholstery, looking for change in the cracks. Sound like he is seriously confused. Asking about LA bars in the Honolulu forum? Anyway, he is describing a "room salon". Similar in concept to Hawaii's KBs, but operates under Korean rules. Used to be hard for non-Koreans to get in to those. Assuming he is non-Korean, because if he were Korean, he wouldn't be asking this question.

Visited Bebe at Winner 8 whom I previously posted about. She was wearing an EZ Access outfit, but what I enjoyed was her awesome massage from my neck to my hips. I kept asking if she wasn't tired but she said 'no' and kept going for a long time. She wasn't drinking fast, either.
