I've read and written a lot about this, and it's interesting the sources of hobby funds guys come up with. Here's some:

- expense checks from employer for gas, etc.

- credit card points can sometimes be redeemed for cash

- hotel rewards points can be used for free rooms

- buy a bunch of items at a store, like clothing, then return some for cash

- buy gift credit cards during holidays and keep some for yourself

- perform some side work for cash, just don't report all to the boss at home

- gamble

- get a credit card in your name only and run up a huge tab with cash advances. Have all the bills go to webmail address

- pay a friendly contractor for work done around the house with check, then have him pay back some in cash

- buy a new car and take the "cash back" bonus when financing

- skip lunch and save the lunch money (lose weight as well)

I'm sure you get the idea. Have to be creative, and best to take small funds regularly and deposit into your "trust fund". A freind of mine whose accountant wife watches every penny likes to gamble. So he got his wife to let him keep a jar for "gambling" funds and he put all his spare change, etc. In it. He started traveling to SLC a lot for business, so he would save the company money by flying to Vegas then hopping to SLC. He ended up saving hundreds of dollars before every trip. Everyone thought he was gambling and losing it all, but I figured out he was hobbying because he never came back with winnings, and he was a pretty good card player.

I'm sure you'll get lots of other great ideas.

I saw Sonia a couple of days ago during her visit to Indy. Appointment setting was very easy as Olga now probably recognizes my voice (too bad I can't get frequent flier miles here). Olga has set the bar high in expectation with her past ladies and Sonia did not let me down, she was on par with the best. 1) Take up a hobby. Take it seriously for a while. Buy golf clubs, bowling ball, fishing equipment, whatever. After a while she won't suspect you on that subject so much. Now you may have a little room to play.

2) Discover an extra income. Buy and sell on eBay, craigslist, paint houses in your spare time, mow lawns, whatever you need to do. This may require a disposable phone, separate bank account, or other arrangements, all of which can be good ideas anyway.

3) Trust a friend and work together. This may not be good advice for your situation, but if it does work for you, it can pay great dividends. Just hope your friend never turns on you.

Had a busy weekend consoling myself over a recent case of Bronchitis. No reports coming.

Saw Harley Saturday night after dinner. She was going to come over my place for a night of movies and sex, and wanted me to pick her up at 8pm. When I got there, she opened the door in a tight, sparkly thing, tall boots and - Hey! It was so sudden I did it with all my clothes on until she complained of my zipper scratching her. But we did cause some damage. The mattress slid right off the boxspring, the nightstand got knocked over and that smashed a couple of empty wine glasses - with a loud crash. I was surprised that she stopped - for a split second, looked over her head to survey the damage - then arched her back, grabbed me by the ass and started gyrating again. Ah Harley.

It was two more times after that, but this time she took my pants off, though my sweater never did come off. The second time was her riding me like a lawn-boy mower, which is unusual for her, she usually doesn't prefer to be on top.

After the third time though, I was done in and I started to snore as we layed on her couch cuddling from exhaustion (in case you haven't noticed in my reports, a little nap time is d'regular with me) We agreed - no need to go to my place anymore, so I wobbled out the door at about 11:15. Some companies will let you defer funds into two seperate entities. So you can have rainy day (or BJ) funds auto deposited apart from each other.
Then you can tell the noisy acountant that you had a increase in health care deductions at work. Or just say you need BJ money.

Boy, the solutions that have been suggested tell me that some of you have really thought this thing out! The creative lengths that a monger will go to is amazing, isn't it. A lot of good ideas have been suggested and here are a couple I use as I'm in a very similar situation.

Check your bank statements to see how they itemize ATM cash back. One of my banks doesn't break it down so when I go to Walmart, Kroger or anywhere they offer cash-back, I get an extra .40 and save for the monger day.

I also do some moonlighting with a partner and we both keep another 3rd from our "auditing partners" saying we are paying a 3rd friend that they both know. I have to add it back in at tax time but she doesn't keep track of the plus side as much. Good luck and be smart. I found mine to be very nosy and resourceful.

Here are some agency ideas:

1. When you go to the store and purchase some products, with your ATM card, cash back is nice if it doesn't show up on your accounting statement. Be careful on credit cards because they normally show the cash out amount and charge you a fee for the cash.

2. Some agencies have an emergency credit card that is with a seperate bank and online statements only or sent to an obscure PO box. However paying the credit card bill can be touchy if your in-house accountant keeps track of it.

3. Some life insurance companies offer some cash withdrawls with no repayment options or a modest increase in the monthly dues.

4. Some banking establishments offer unsecured loans. If you can secure these funds then they are a resource. Again it depends on how close your in-house accountant looks at the bills being paid.

5. Some agencies go and buy items at a store like Home Depot or Walmart. Then find they did not need all the products they purchased with the check they wrote. After about 10 days that check has cleared and the returns can be reimbursed with cash from the establishment. It can work on ATM cards and credit cards sometimes, depends on the policy of the establishment which you can determine before you decide how you plan on paying.

6. When you change, modify, add etc. insurance policies or over pay bills you sometimes get a refund. Your agency then can cash this, if of course, your agency get's to the mail first.

7. Last but not least, some male agency owners advertise on-line on various boards or websites as an escort for ladies. This can bring in a lot of income if you can find some lady (not men) who are willing to pay for your company. Dinner, theatre, drinks, movies etc. ONLY of course.

Oh well maybe only the first 6 are legit, but 7 would be fun, if women were dogs like us mongers.

However, there is one catch to this approach. If you use a credit or debit card for the purchase transaction, you will can be tracked, and the credit card you bought will have a trail. Just in case the accountant is also a suspicious sleuth, or has a lawyer or private detective. Although if she's that much of a money watcher, she probably wouldn't spend that kind of money for professional services.

I opened a seperate account in my name alone. Got my employer to deposit a small amount in that account every two weeks and the rest into the joint account. The money in the account under my name is not tracked at all.
