Figured I'd share my most recent trip to the Zona, specifically to HK. It had been quite a while since my last visit (few months) and things have changed for the better in my opinion! Based on what I experienced and witnessed this trip I will most definitely return soon!

Arrived around 11 pm with a friend, we were a bit later than usual, but the trek seemed pretty easy and clear once the parking was out of the way. $5 cab to HK and in we walked to see the place packed with lovely ladies and tons of fellow mongers. I personally have never exchanged currency or used pesos, but from what I gathered it can net an extra 10-15 in some cases (I recall seeing another monger mention it) so I think it may be worth it in that regard as well as be a better value when paying. If I was more proficient in the language I'd probably attempt it.

If you go when the bank is closed the Calimax on 2nd and Constitution has an HSBC ATM but maximum 6000 peso withdrawal (about $405). Sell back your unused pesos at a San Ysidro money exchange and you may make a couple of bucks.

That block there has always been notorious for muggings, stabbings etc. I've been through there without incident but try to avoid now. The TSA agent asked me, "Are you bringing anything back in?" I thought, "A big-ass smile," but I know these guys tend to not have a sense of humor.

This was my second trip to Tijuana. I took the Blue Trolley to San Ysidro, exchanged some money and walked across into Mexico. The plan was to meet George1950, the world's greatest wingman, at a dollar Corona place near the arch. That place never closes, well, except the day we were going to meet there. My goal for the day was to sample a Street Girl, those legendary young ladies that stand outside the cheap hotels along the streets of la Zona Norte.

So, we walked from the arch up Calle' Primera and turned right onto Av Constitucion. Along the right side of the street in the immediate block is a line of mostly attractive spinners. The finer ladies are going to be at Hong Kong or other clubs and the prices in the clubs are very good. The Street Girls, on average, are less exciting but the price is ridiculously low. Don't even begin to think of the Street Girls as SW's. They aren't. They have a health card and are checked regularly. I noticed the Street Girls tend to not speak any English. The Club Girls, some do.

When I go back to TJ it will be to Hong Kong or maybe Adalitas Bar.

I always walk up the incline leaving the zona and then take the back entrance to the tourist area. There is a police station if you go that way. The police may be corrupt, but the ordinary criminals avoid trying to mug tourists right in front of them.
