It isn't the total you need to look at, it is the number of deaths per day. What is the leading cause of death in the US right now? Answer, coronavirus. The second highest is heart disease.

Heart disease was the leading cause, it killed about 650 K Americans last year, which is 1,700 per day. The current rate of coronavirus deaths per day is hovering around 2,000, and this is with the USA on lockdown. It would easily be more than double this number without the lockdown.

I think George Carlin stated it best: "Take the stupidest person you know, and realize that most people are even stupider than that". So you have a catch 22 going on that yes, masks *might* help, but they *more likely* will make stupid people do stupid things. Same with gloves. You will *spread the damn thing faster* if you don't switch out the masks / gloves every time you touch a possibly infected surface, or touch your mask. How many people do you know who would actually do that and reduce transmission?

Why even bother gloves? Personally, I usually just wear one glove, on my dominant hand that I grab things with. My left hand goes glove less, but I put my money, phone, etc within pockets on my left side. I push the cart only with the right hand and use it for display handles, etc. If I have an itch, I use my left hand. I also have a hand sanitizer pack on a carabiner that I'll frequently use, even with my gloves on, especially if I need to use my left hand to grab something. After using a credit card, I'll rub it with some sanitizer before I put it in my pocket.

Don't bother, it was a rhetorical question congruent with the fact Publix deli employees (and I'm sure McDonald employees too) were preparing sandwiches and other foods until last week for customers without wearing masks (and in extreme cases, no hair nets) so with this being said, why couldn't restaurants reopen with limited seating (anywhere between 25-50%) two or more weeks ago? If Costco, Publix, McDonalds and ABC liquors can be deemed "essential" why not Sloppy Joe's or Charley's Steak House?

As others have stated, the lock-down was done to SLOW the spread, not eliminate the virus. Now that we have a solid grip on it (at least in 90% of Florida as well as other states) it's time to get back to work. This Chinese Communist Virus is going to be with us for at least a year, and with proper precautions, we can inch our way back to normal, but telling people not to leave their homes while others flock to the Courtney Campbell Causeway, park their cars on the side-median (because the parking lots remain closed!) and have picnics, gather in groups and take pics of the sunsets while others walk their dogs, ride their bikes and make out in the mangrove areas without even a single nephew of Uncle LEO even handing out parking tickets just goes to show how full of shit all this "Stay Home and Stay Safe" bullshit order really is at this point!
