Forget "customer is always right", it's more like "supplier is always right". And if so, this should be stated clearly. And currently this board is one of the few places it can be stated on.
I agree zero tolerance policy is easier (and lazier) approach. But wherr is zero tolerance on the other side? When a girl or booker cancels you, do you get full compensation? An airline cancellation gives passengers vouchers that are higher in value. No such thing in this biz. This creates very assymetric relationships.
At the very least, people could report it publicly so others know, that agency X will demand full price for canceling on a prebook, even in emergency situation.
Charging it to the game is a fine concept, but only if it applies to both sides. Mongers lose money=time every time we're canceled on.
Again this creates a dichotomy of "we do what we want (cancel at any time for any reason with no reimbursement) and you do what you can (can't cancel at any time for any reason without reimbursement). OK, sure. Shit practice but sure. Then let's see the list of all orgs who engage in such practice, it's only right that we enumerate them publicly.

I totally agree with the philosophical underpinnings and theory of your arguments, except the part about symmetry. I think the orgs are taking a much bigger risk than the mongers. This is such a base and basic market that I don't think there is room for a lot of subtleties, or consideration. Also, I don't think there are too many "subtle" people involved at any level of the orgs, or the "girls".
Time for another of my favorite sayings: "If all you have is a hammer, everything looks like a nail!
If I get burned by my dealer, I don't go running to the BBB (but I would run to the BBFS). I try to find another dealer. I guess the question in this instance is exactly how many dealers are there? If we were to draw up a heirarchical chart of the booker's and orgs, would we find out that in fact that there are not that many players, and their relationships to each could effectively blackball one right out of the game? If so, I think it is fair to consider what is likely to be the most productive course of action, and not just stand on principal!

If everyone here is talking about it here then it doesn't sound like a well kept secret from the masses or even UTR. I don't agree with the inherent risk justifying bad practices.
I'd assume if you get burned by your dealer, you'd warn all your friends and others to not deal with that dealer anymore. Well, this board is the equivalent of this. If people are afraid of bullying where orgs will blacklist you for even mentioning their practices. As you seem to imply. Well that sucks. But there are solutions. They could for example forward their grievances or instances of bad practices to someone who aren't afraid to pound on issues and they'd compile an anonymous list. Will there be false positives? Sure.
I don't agree with the concept of because the orgs run it and are all networked, it's ok to be bullied and stay quiet and treated like dumb atm machine Johns instead of like long-term customers. Just my 2 c.
