So I don't know what the big deal is.
That definitely won't fly with any high-end or mid tier girl. Some of them even want it in an envelope. Others I've seen require a deposit before meeting to hold the time slot. Paying after is a foreign concept to me. There are multiple levels / quality / class of escorts though. I've never ever seen any that gave me the slightest idea that payment after is an option.
