I would think letting a cop know they are being recorded might bring their tactics in line at the time of the stop.

Even if the woman asked to get in and she started to open the door and you do anything other than saying "NO" very clearly, you will get locked up if they are running a sting. They have numbers to make and they do not care if the case sticks. If it looks too good to be true, it probably is too good. Stay safe.

I've been pulled over with a woman in my car on the west side of Chicago near a school and at most the cops just hassled me saying "how would I like it if they called my wife" (I don't have one) and "we could get a female cop to search her for drugs" etc and still ended up letting me go.

You may not want to believe it but police officers lie all of the time. If the encounter is not recorded, the officer can say anything.

And since they didn't see money change hands, didn't see me pick her up, or didn't catch us in the sex act, they have a very slim chance of making the charge stick.

So when are you at risk? If they see you stop and a hooker gets in your car, you could be whammed for pandering. If you're caught in the act, obviously, or if they see you give her money.

Now don't get me wrong, getting stopped is no fun. It's crap. I can't say as I enjoyed the talking to I got from the police officer and I can't say I enjoy being at risk for some other enforcement procedure, such as disturbing the peace or whatever charge they can make stick easily. If they find drugs on the hooker, they have probable cause to search your car. No drugs? Still a hassle. So for the MOST part, you are pretty safe if all you have is a hooker riding with you. (MOST part, other factors may enter.).

I've been stopped for circling the same blocks multiple times, stopped twice for talking to a woman out of my car window (obviously trying to get her into the car) and the most they do is give me a lecture about how it's not a safe thing to do or they better not see me around here again yet a couple days later I'm back on the prowl.

I'm not saying you need to believe it, I'm just saying that it happens all the time. About 10 years back I got caught in a sting. I had pulled over and parked across from a hot dog place on Cicero. A woman walks up and asked if I wanted to party, asked me for 15 bucks (a really low number but back then some street girls were doing things for 15-20 bucks in some areas). She grabbed my door handle to get in but I had it locked, so I rolled down my window just a little bit. Next thing I know my car was surrounded and I ended up in the back of a paddy wagon for several hours as they rounded up one guy after the next. I've had a lot of close calls over the years and have been in positions that should have ended with me behind bars but the sting is what got me. I beat the rap but it cost me a lot of money to get my car from the impound (towing charge and hearing are separate from the rest). Oh yeah, I had to pay an attorney too.
