As a newer convert to the PDX version of the hobby (Pandemic era), I'm curious when you feel shops began offering more services. I wasn't aware this was a newer phenomena.

As to discreteness, I've often been amazed at the lack of subtlety in some shops. I once opted to forgo extras at a shop on 82nd (near the max station), and the lady chewed me out for the audacity.
