He was an Army Ranger and put one of the two guys in the hospital, the second one got away limping, but that is a story for another day. Here is the point, TJ around HK, that whole area, is as safe or safer than red light districts in the US of A. Cascades is a pretty nice hotel, so staying there is fine, just request an upper floor, as has been suggested, or the noise from the club will be bad. The hotel itself is clean and safe.

I have used Cascades and several of the less desirable hotels around there. There are pickpockets and there are corrupt police, scam artists and the like. Sex for sale is legal and the girls carry health cards. Few speak any English, and that is probably the biggest issue you will face. But I would have more problem walking in a SW area of Los Angeles that Tijuana, as far as safety is concerned.

I stay there whenever I am in town, coming in on Sunday.

Are you worried about the hotel itself? In the Master Suite? It's a super nice room.

A little off topic. Has anyone bought sublingual (dissolve under the tongue) Viagra in TJ?

I would take a taxi or Uber if you plan to leave Zona Norte.

I will be heading down May 30 and 31 of any first timers want help crossing. I will show you around the area and help you get your bearings as well.

I've stayed at several of the hotels down there by myself, and have never had any problems. Well the only problem I've had was booking a room for a single person, and the front desk guy yelling at me when I tried to take a girl up to my room. I had to pay the front desk a "second person fee". I don't know if he was just trying to scare me, but it was only $10 so I paid it without arguing. You literally cannot turn around without seeing police somewhere on the streets around the HK club. The clubs (and gangs who have involvements with the clubs) do not want anything bad happening to the tourists in that area. The tourists bring in money, lots of money, and they don't want to have the tourists scared off. So that immediate area is about one of the (relatively) safest areas in TJ. That being said, you have to worry more about the Police in that area, than anything else. If you are acting drunk and stupid out in the street, they will try to shake you down. Or even worse, if they think you're looking for drugs, then you're going to have some really bad problems. If you stick to that area, you should be fine. Just don't wander off down one of the side streets, don't do anything stupid around the police, avoid anyone who appears to be selling drugs, and get away from anyone who says they can hook you up with "younger" or "fresher" girls.

Despite all the police around it is always a good idea to constantly look back to see who is behind you. The street crime has been fairly low in the Zona. But you never know when it will rise again. If you see police hanging out on the street. It is a good idea to walk on the other side of the street. The police will hang out there and search people for no good reason. The police that act as security for the bars are not a problem however.

It looks I will make my first visit on May 11 or 12. I will be a daytime visit, I am not a night person anymore. I plan on going to HK and maybe check out the street girls. If anyone is around then. Give me a holler.

I was looking at YT videos and on one of them saw adverts for Viagra. Is that real? Do you need a prescription?

The below post does not answer the next question: what happens crossing back if you have prescription drugs you bought in TJ but do not have a prescription from a US physician?

I cannot provide an answer, perhaps others can.

I know the answer to this is here somewhere, but I apologize for being too lazy to look. Can anyone say with certainty what hours the trolley operates? What hours / is pedwest open. What about hours / days of pedeast? I know one of them closes.

JD.[/QUOTE]Don't know about the trolley hours. But the only thing that closes is entry into Mexico at pedwest closes at 10 pm.
