I would think a text conversation has potential to be fantastic evidence if needed. Why would a cop discourage that?

I agree that it would seem an easy easy to catch someone if they had a text conversation. That's what is so weird about the encounter it seemed as though she could have pressed more and busted me easily if she wanted too.

Mechanical and rushed.
Also worth noting, when I saw her it was obviously her in the pictures(though they are old pictures). Maybe someone is using her pics.

I think that would be a good approach as a defense (no, I'm not an attorney nor do I play one on tv).

Nothing crazy because you won't be needed it long. Download a web browser on your computer that doesn't store cookies, like Brave, for example. You can take it a step further if you're super high profile and use a proxy server on top of that but it's not really necessary. Sign up for a new Gmail. Make it something completely different that ties to you in no way. With that new Gmail, create a Google Voice number. It will ask for your current number. That's where this burner phone comes in handy. Use that number and verify your account. Once you've done that, you can go in your Google Voice settings and delete the burner phone number. You will still retain your Google Voice number and you can ditch the burner phone. Whenever the little head starts to speak up, you can either log into Google Voice on your computer or, on your phone, in an incognito tab. This is probably the safest for anyone, especially those with a SO. Second phones are great, but if wifey finds it and says "What's this?" What are you going to do? This method is like having a second phone without the physical evidence.
