However, with all the eyeballs on me walking in and out including dope boys, 'tutes, and other male junkies, the daring excitement has worn off for me. I've had a couple experiences I'd rather not repeat. I didn't get robbed, beaten, or anything, but it came close. I try to have a bit more control of the environment these days.

When you don't belong, though, everyone looks at you. Sometimes you get a head nod or a smile from someone. Just because they're being friendly doesn't mean they aren't a threat. I've been very closed-mouth because oftentimes they're trying to feel me out for whether I make a lot of money, if I might have a lot of money on me, what my status may be by who I know in their circles, whether I'm careful, whether I could be a threat, etc. For the most part, the less they know, the less comfortable they are to attack you.
I once kind of got to know a guy at a trap. We were cool, and it seemed we had mutual respect. Then he called me one day asking me to come over to talk about a girl. I know he's violent, has a bad temper, and robs people. 2 plus 2 wasn't equaling 4. What did we need to talk about inside the house that we couldn't do on the phone?
