Call masking applications exist in many forms including apps, google it if you want to research it. They are not as usefeul at anonymizing your identity as using burner phones, but using a service that claims to not keep logs can generally keep you safe. Reverse lookups on those numbers will tell the searcher that the phone number is IP based. I have had one provider tell me to call from my real number or don't call at all.

Jim, it may very well have been a sting and the poster of the ad just skipped the details. Apparently the girl he went to see was police so his statement that police were on the other side of the door would be true whether or not it was 1 female or 5 males. Plus, if he was explicitly offering money for sex over text or phone then why bother waiting for him to say it in person?
