The odd thing is that cops were searching civilians that looked perfectly honest citizens that did not appear to causing any problems. My only guess is that they search Mexican citizens at random in hopes of finding something so they can extract a bribe. I am also guessing is that it is easier to justify a search in Zona.

The only time I've ever been shaken up down there is when one time I was thrown in the paddy wagon. Drove around for 20-30 minutes be they took us to the station. Managed to get myself out unscathed. Definitely worst experience in Tijuana ever.

I've heard underage prostitution is rampant in the zona or used to be. A few hotels were busted for having underage girls working / living on their premises. The second bridge you cross walking over to Tijuana that used to end where the yellow cabs were is being demolished. After you cr I ss the first brdge you have to walk down the stairs and cross about six lanes of traffic of cars waiting to return to the USA The cab drivers will be right there. The second bridge and the buildings are being demolished to construct the new roadway feeding all the return lanes.

Tijuana city planning department seems completely disorganized. It is completely ridiculous to expect people to cross a busy street when there is already another walkway by the canal that is not even being used.
