Had the day off today (10/3 Monday) so I was productive. Cleaned my apartment, my car, did groceries, etc.
Got home and decided to smoke a joint and browse this site and rubmaps for fun but man rubmaps is such a shitshow. I've posted about this before but today I finally canceled my paid subscription after 10 years of membership there (my username is reds101 there). What a buzzkill rubmaps is these days.
And it wasn't the trolls that caused it. I may get some hate for this here but I honestly feel like the white knights are worst than the trolls.
I know that there's a lot of users that use this site that are also active on rubmaps (similar usernames, reviews, etc.)
The review and comments section for 108/ ocean has gotten to be a complete shitshow. And a continuation of the drama in the "stupid shit in san Diego" forum from months ago.
I may get some hate for this but I just want to get this off my chest:
What do some people get out of defending the parlor as if their life depended on it? I feel like the "defenders" of 108/ ocean make the problem worst than the trolls.
They give the trolls the most attention by replying 20-30 times to these fake reviews and that makes people click on those reviews even more.
As a former internet troll in my teenage years 10-20 years ago, I highly recommend just ignoring them and moving on with your life. Going off at the trolls and defending the AMP as if someone insulted your mother makes the trolls happier and makes them feel like they accomplished their "job" and will encourage them to continue doing so even more.
Think about it. These trolls spend 5 minutes top on creating a bs review and the same 5-10 people spend the next 3 days replying to each other and calling people out.
A lot of the white knights try to claim that these trolls are paid shills or owners of other parlors but if I had to bet money on it, I would guess that most of them are the same one or two people that are just getting a kick out of seeing the reaction that he gets from the defenders. Maybe I'm blissfully ignorant but just looking at their writing styles and responses, most of them are probably the same person.
There are plenty of fake 5 star reviews for other parlors but those users and reviews don't get called out. If anything, these are the types of reviews that we need to call out.
As a now (ex) member of rubmaps, don't trust reviews at the first glance. Click through to the user's profile and IMO it's a red flag if their profile is private.
You'll notice some spas have the same 5 star reviews by the same 2-3 people out of the blue. Most likely fake but it's getting harder to catch these accounts since they have started to make their profiles private.
Even just a few months ago, you could see somewhere like spa bello or rancho Bernardo spa (coming up with 4-5 star reviews out of nowhere and if you checked the user profiles before they were private, they were posting the same review in multiple spas across different cities and states.
108/ ocean is so well established at this point, the troll reviews are so easy to spot and ignore.
There's a reason the phrase "don't feed the troll" has been around since the beginning of the internet.
Anyways my high is completely gone but at least I'm saving 20 bucks a month on my rubmaps membership now.

After the amazing number of posts that came from the V. I. P. Storm it is only natural for everyone to kinda burn out on repeat "I got mine too" posts that flooded the forum. I'm lucky enough that my income has risen steadily over the past few years due to career growth so I am able to continue mongering frequently. I don't think we have a lot of new talent coming onto the Independent MP (RubMD) scene as of late, and a lot of older / established providers have taken themselves off the site and rarely post because their schedules are filled with their regulars. I know quite a few that just don't post anymore. I also typically get them after the gym so higher protein places.

If I feel like I want to save a little money, I go to the Costco on convoy to get a chicken bake and slice of pizza. This one normally doesn't check if you have a Costco card for the food area.
If I have more time, I like to go to raising canes in Santee (it's more miles than the one in Mira Mesa but way less traffic so only takes 10-15 min to get there from convoy area).
Most places you can order over the phone for pickup to reduce waiting time.
Arby's or Jack in the Box, mainly the latter is my go-to.

Aside from that sushi deli 3 is great. Izakaya Sakura (basically right next door to aria massage) is extremely good. For desert, you can get somi somi if you're craving some great ice cream. My current go to is cake de party. They have amazing soufflé pancakes and crepe cakes you can order by the slice.

What do some people get out of defending the parlor as if their life depended on it? I feel like the "defenders" of 108/ ocean make the problem worst than the trolls.
They give the trolls the most attention by replying 20-30 times to these fake reviews and that makes people click on those reviews even more.
As a former internet troll in my teenage years 10-20 years ago, I highly recommend just ignoring them and moving on with your life. Going off at the trolls and defending the AMP as if someone insulted your mother makes the trolls happier and makes them feel like they accomplished their "job" and will encourage them to continue doing so even more.
Think about it. These trolls spend 5 minutes top on creating a bs review and the same 5-10 people spend the next 3 days replying to each other and calling people out.

Thankfully, I don't have a "paid membership" account associated with RM. What a fucking shit show and joke that place is! I joined only a few months back and I've only left 2 reviews for a couple of the AMP girls I've seen, under a different username there. FWIW- I don't plan of ever logging back on that place again and thankfully I never gave RM any of my hard earned $$. I'd much rather spend that annual $240 they charge you, on an AMP girl or some escort.
Which leads me to this site, and the difficult job that Admin & the Moderator's here have, spending much of their valuable time working hard trying their best to filter and silence some of these parasites off of this forum, or labeling some of these other accounts as "shill account" which is pretty much like a death sentence for any future credibility.
As of late, Admin has done an awesome job taking out and addressing quite a bit of this BS drama recently, & FWIW I'm really appreciative for them doing so. This is supposed to be a fun enjoyable hobby, a place where we like minded hobbyists can come and share personal experiences, and expand our horizons.
I've met some really awesome guys here, and have exchanged a lot of really helpful Intel with these guys, which has helped save me $$$ seeing bad providers, as well as some great recommendations. There are a real good core group of guys here whom I can relate with and share personal details with. On the same token, I'm learning whom I need to ignore; which has become pretty easy spotting with so many new shill accounts being created here. It's a never ending battle with these sick fucks!
And yes, I agree- it does work both ways. There are a couple of "White Knights," who do nothing but shill 24/7 for some of the more popular AMP's here. I ignore them as well. It really gets tiring.

I've watched lots of guys do the walk of shame that it's obvious when you see it. I know this doesn't apply to all mongers who hobby, or which method you choose to hobby, but it seems to apply more to those who enjoy the AMP experience. And I think much of this is because our AMPs are often in very open, public, and popular business areas.
Obviously there are some family men, and men who have a significant other who really prefer their participation in this hobby to remain a secret for all time. Sure, you have to watch out who might see you, and it's best to choose your times and locations wisely, but nobody has to do the walk of shame. Even the new guys coming into the hobby, can learn to avoid doing it.
I've seen so many mongers look so guilty, entering or exiting a spa, or sitting in the lobby waiting like a chastised boy avoiding eye contact and trying to be invisible. More than one monger has noted the uncomfortable, and awkward, waiting time.
You can spot the guys who display a guilty mind set just by watching the parking lot. If you don't believe me, find a popular spa near a bar, and sit at the bar and watch. I sometimes grab a beer after a good massage and just people watch. Some guys will stroll so slow you know where they're pretending they are not going. Other guys will dash across the parking lot just short of a run trying to duck in unseen, but you can guess from their speed and trajectory where they are going. I've seen guys change course in mid step if they run into a guy going in or leaving a spa they are heading to. They suddenly making a sharp left or right, and some have even just stopped in their tracks looking completely lost. In each of these case it's their guilt ridden actions that drew my attention.
The guilty usually have their heads down, eyes locked low, shoulders forward, and try to not see anyone as if that means nobody will see them. The hats and sun glasses, and masks are convenient, but if you're behaving like someone with a guilty conscience they might help you avoid being easily recognized, but they won't keep you from being noticed and looking guilty of something. And if everyone walks in with a hat, shades and masks that almost unto itself looks suspicious. Especially on cloudy days, and when masks are not required. If you look like you're wearing a disguise, it will look like you are wearing a disguise.
I appreciate the concern about being seen, but realize if you think you're guilty of something, you will look guilty. And if you look guilty you'll draw more attention to yourself because of that. When you catch someone's attention they will wonder what you're up to. To avoid this, you have to dump the guilt.
Walk in or out or wait with confidence that you are just getting a good massage. Even if someone you know spots you, be open about it. I'm getting a massage for a bad back. End of story. If they try to imply it is something naughty, make them feel bad and say they have a dirty mind, then follow up and say it's not like that. You can even recommend the place to them if you feel so bold. Staying in the conversation and acting like you're happy to see them will further support you're doing nothing wrong. Trying to disengage quickly like you are terrified they saw you, will only compound their suspicions.
Other ways to avoid standing out with a guilty sign glowing over your head. We're all recognizable by our cars, so don't part right in front of the Spa. Don't make bee line across the parking lot to the front door if you parked far out. Walk down the side walk and survey the area a little, but don't be looking around like Mr. Nervous or strolling too slowly like you are window shopping. When you come out you can casually turn into the closest store, bar, or restaurant nearby and get a refreshment. Whatever you do, just use your regular walk. Keep your head up, shoulders back, and walk.
If you want to do the "disguise" thing, sure hats, sunglass, and masks will make you harder to recognize. You can also wear boring clothes that don't stand out. When I get my "massages" in the summer, I wear a black logo-less tee, shorts and flip flops. Easier to get naked in 10 seconds, and dressed in 20.
If you are being a naughty guy it also helps if you learn to lie well, just in case you are spotted and need to come up with a cover story. Personally I find a convincing truth to be more successful than a weak lie. Everyone is not a good liar, so it's easier if you drop the guilt altogether and believe you aren't doing anything illegal, immoral, or fattening.
Don't forget that the business around the spas tend to notice who goes in and out, how often and how many. So if you're acting all guilty and slinking around or basically looking suspicious you'll draw unnecessary attention to our favorite spas. One reason LE gets involved with Spa business is "complaints" by local businesses around them. Don't make other businesses want to complain about our spas due to what they think is suspicious behavior on your part.
If you have a SO, it might be a good idea to just open up about getting massages. Try finding a legit Spa, get a massage, and let your SO know that your back hurt after a workout and you got a massage, and it helped. You can even do a couples thing so she's a part of the legit "massage" experience. Maybe even request a massage as a birthday present. Then get one at least once a month and let them know about it. This way they won't be freaked out if they hear you got a massage, or spot you going in or coming out of a spa. You've integrated it into your normal behavioral patter.
Years ago I had a SO and every time she got her nails done, I told her I was getting "pampered" with a massage. She never gave me getting a massage a second thought (as far as I know). I only say that because we never discussed it further other than asking me how was it? And my answer was, great, you should come with me next time.
No matter what your plans or activities, your thoughts should always be; I'm just getting a massage, no big deal, no guilt here. Do the "walk of shame" no more!
