Now the feds repackaged a new bill and worded it to sound a little less invasive (double speak) to further invade our privacy by tapping into emails and social network sites. The last time this was let out by the media, the people shut it down. However, here lately, the president seems to believe he has the power to give/sign "executive orders" and bypass the house and congress. I hope enough people realize what is going on and keeps this from moving forward.

OS[/QUOTE]You're right OS. I was employed by one of the agencies, retired just prior to 9/11, and warrantless wiretaps were very much a topic of discussion and on the table. I was mostly out of country, and that was pretty much the norm as far as tapping land line, cell phones, and satellite phones in foreign countries. But, because of 9/11, we now know that there are people in this country associated with terrorism. I don't like it. I think that it's just another freedom taken away from us. But, this is the way life is now in this country. Can't trust anyone, including those working for the many agencies in this country. Example. Robert Hanssen.

There's a few grassroots movements with sites out there fighting the info war. I just hope its enough to make a significant change without another civil war.

Also you can be held in comtempt if you don't appear in court when you have a court date or a subpoena. Sometimes a reporter can be held in comtempt if they won't reveal their sourse for a story.
