My first approach to mongering was to join the other site where I could look at reviews. Right or wrong, a review was an indicator that the provider was probabably legit and worth a contact. The only negative is that you can only review a provider who can be linked to a web site. That eliminates SWs, UTRs, and others right out the gate. Many members of that site will not see a provider if there is no review.
Then I learned about USASG and its international cousin which I use a lot now that I travel out of the US often. Now I have two sources to review.
Let me counter your comment about negative reviews. Although I only have 25 or so posts there, about 10 percent are negative and I never had any trouble with admin about them. Just like this site, admin is our back and protects us from saying stupid things about ourselves or the provider. I think I prefer not to write a negative review because it may have just been a bad day. I write proffessionally, so if it's bad there's a real need for it.
I did write the reviewer and ask about the dream as it relates to all the negative publicity. More exactly, has the environment changed as he reported none of the issues our brothers report here. BUT, not getting a response carries more weight than the review because it brings to question if the review was just a set-up by some captain out there.
