I had occasion to place a legit ad on BP the other day and paid with my VISA CC.

When I got the statement, it listed:
"ad placement Shanghaishi $4.88"
and a second line item: "$0. 14 foreign transaction fee".

That tells me that BP has an account in China for their own protection and my safety.
