He gets your first and last name and some kind of I. D. To prove you are who you say you are. Otherwise you do not enter unless you can get someone that lives there to come to the gate and show their I. D. I know of a guy did that same thing and the guard ask for his drivers license and he said he did not have it own him. The guard called the local police first.
