Korean Bar Reports

So checked out couple places in town this weekend to see how Business changes the landscape. Went to Lotus, Ellie lost some girls but seems Sandra brought in some Kalihi women. Place took a hit from Business but could've been a lot worse. Seemed all things considered they were doing somewhat ok for a Saturday night. I guess the place will transform more into kalihi style somewhat, which is good if it'll keep some loyal consistently. On to Business, place was happening. Had a few booths open but bars including sushi were filled to capacity with people also standing. Atmosphere and crowd was really like late night evergreen which haven't seen in a super long time. Heard the place was slow for a good portion of the night but huge waves suddenly came in. By the time I came in the rush already started. Had some big parties and I guess the girls were at least doing somewhat ok. But you can tell by the karaoke singing and stuff at least people were having a good time. Which in the end is really what matters. Its been a super long time since I seen that kind of atmosphere in a kB. Even other bars when busy don't get quite like that. Just really sucks the place isn't till 4 am. Right now town really needs a 4 am kb because that's the girls second chance to make some money. At the end of the night I made my way to Leslie's to have one more drink. Absolutely nothing to report. I'll probably checkout splash and business again this weekend. If have time maybe I'll also check Camelot, but I know there will be nothing to report there. Last I saw place for the most is meant to cater to Korean nationals.

No girls was there when I went there around 5. The girls must have been shown up late.

It seems like a lot of the girls are moving back to Splash. Not sure if the other bars are really slow these days.

Hell restaurants haven't even started their rush yet. Girls don't come in till 7-9 o'clock. Mamas don't even come in till at least 6. Town more so than ever is strictly evening spot. The only time you'll find girls during the day is SB.

This weekend decided to checkout splash. Heard they were somewhat busy early in the evening. When I got there wasn't bad, was at least steady. There seems to be an increase in girls compared to what they had the past couple months. All on the slightly older side though, but not too old. Then made my way to Business to end the evening. Noticed Ashley's lot was empty but street parking this time around was pretty limited. Anyway, Business was fairly busy nothing too outrageous but steady. Had a domestic incident with some customers, but nothing too crazy. I mean this place caters to all sorts of people including youngins, so I guess crazy incidents is bound to happen time to time. Supposedly other bars are starting to blame Business for their lack of business. Don't know how true it is, but I'm not a least bit shocked. I think that will pretty much complete my reports for now since I more or less got to hit up all the places that mattered. All in all Business is the place to be for now. Will be interesting to see in the future if place gains more or loses momentum. Difference for Mimi this time around is her place is in a league of its own. Perhaps in time other places will change for the better.

Where are the golfers? Guess they are all dead too along with the big spenders. Back in the old days, Camelot, Ashley and Chill were loaded with golfers and pau hana drinkers around 5. Girls would come in early to take care of them.

Not anymore. Let's say time has changed and drinkers moving on.

For out in town, there was also girls specifically scheduled for the afternoon. Even back in the day when watching Monday night fb at the bars was big, only a few girls would come in early during the game. Always thought that was kind of dumb because majority of the guys attention was on the game and food. I mean I know kalihi is more known for the pau hana parties. But the reality is bars were always catered to the evening crowd, especially out in town. Hence why happy hours are typically in the day / late afternoon, to attract more people to come at that time.

The new princesses no come work till 8 in town. No wonder the early birds drinkers are disappearing. They hop on to Kalihi instead.

Anyway they are losing the golfers too cause after a hot day playing 18 holes. The golfer group like to have a few beers and some pupus. There is no girls there to serve them cause town princesses come work late.

I notice Green tea and lilac have flyers for lot of golf functions. In fact I think they have teams. I know a few of Mimi's girls golf, but I don't know if there's enough to consist of a team. After all, most of them relatively speaking are on the younger side. Ashley, last I saw just don't have enough girls period. Seems Lotus and Splash though might be reloading with older woman, so perhaps their future will cater to the golf crowd. Not trying say golf is a older person thing, but let's be real here those type of functions do attract the older crowd more. Camelot, that place got all kinds of issues now. Ever since Mimi left, that place is catering more to Korean nationals. I don't know how she going continue to make ends meet with that mentality. Especially when the customers are notorious for rolling over tabs.

Also noticing that the K crowds are out in force and trying to take over the bar counter. If you in the middle of dem, they talk and socialize right through you; typical rude, nomadic attitudes. Inhospitality and crude manners at all turns with no strategies to enhance the KBs. That's the KBs and, if you still like go, got to expect that kine stuff and try ignore. Sad case.

In the past, you rarely see them out front, but now they are taking over sitting at the bar. And like the previous monger mentioned, they are very rude people who like to get into arguments with people. I guess that is the way of the bar scene and the end is getting closer.

As mentioned previously though Camelot is now notorious for that. That's why place hasn't been packed since Mimi and her girls left. I've heard too from a few sources lot of girls are avoiding working there because that's just how mama wants to operate. Up until a few months ago, she had Mimi covering her mistakes. We'll see how long more she can survive now that she is solely doing things her way. I hope all the delinquent tabs that go on there get paid off eventually.

The above key words and phrases (of observations) are setting the KB Landslide: 'Noticeable, lack, notorious, avoiding, survive, covering her mistakes, delinquent tabs, paid...eventually, rude, taking over, arguments, etc. " Positive and humorous comments need to be harvested from going KB, not crap. Lots of work to do in order to enhance the KBs from their current, negative images. Sad case. Anyway, will be doing a day shift observation and report of New Business after its approximately one month of being in operation (from what I've heard so far, it ain't that good) soon. Somebody else go same time so that can get one unbiased, multiple report, if can. Sad case, so take care and stay thirsty.
