Wireless devices raise questions about crimefighting, ID

BOSTON — A police officer stops you on the street, then taps something into a device in the palm of his hand.
The next minute, he knows who your relatives are, who lives in your house, who your neighbors are, the kind of car you drive or boat you own, whether you've been sued and various other tidbits about your life.
Science fiction? Hardly.
A growing number of police departments now have instant access via handheld wireless devices to vast commercial databases that contain details on just about anyone officers encounter on the beat.
In a time of terrorism worries, the information could theoretically save lives, or produce clues that an eagle-eyed cop could use to solve a case.
But placing a commercial database full of personal details at an officer's fingertips also raises troubling questions for electronic privacy activists.

Long time lurker here. Decided to visit Sun Club from past postings before the Van Halen concert at MCI today. Went to the location as described, but WTF? There was no black door with 701 on it. Just Arena Bar on the right and Coyote Ugly on the left (with a printing establishment and a apartment in between). Safe to say Sun Club is gone?

I read your 4/19 report. So, it was the "apartment"? There was a metal bar door with a glass door behind it and it had 703 over it. You can see right inside the brightly lit hallway. It seemed very well kept like a private residence. Are you talking about that one? (it is the only door just before the construction)

No, it is not the apartment. It is a black metal door at street level about 10 yards north of the intersection of 6th and G. I believe it now has a 528 on the door.

Dear "Loop" newbies from VA. If you must monger at the "Loop", please leave your Coronas with lime at home. Nothing worse than having the natural course of monger traffic disrupted by a coulpe of newbies drinking beer and getting caught.
The Loop was HOT this morning around 2:30am. Lots of sw's, all very high priced. Got discouraged around LE shift change and drove home via, that's right, you guessed it, New York Avenue.
Quality on New York Avenue? YES!. Dream Nightclub lets out around 3:00am. The Ave was full of Quality SW around 3:45.
Picked up BSW by the name of Candy. Candy liked to communicate her price via her cell phone. Was not comfortable with that, so I asked her to prove she was not a cop. She pulled up her skirt and showed the kitten. She offered CBJ for 60. I talker her into Half & Half for 80. We got down to business in her favorite spot. A dark parking lot behind the LE parking lot just off NY Ave. The kitten was very tight and she seemed to be in a hurry. Not bad for the 80, but next time I will select her girlfriend. First post, though, I've been lurking for some time. I’ve been spending my hard earned dough on the escort/AMP scene for years, and felt that throwing something new into the mix would be a welcome change. Wanted to bust my mongering cherry before contributing to the club.
Last Friday spent the better part of an hour surveying the loop around 1AM. Started at 16th, worked east to 13th along L, and then back tracked via K. Strayed off to M and beyond a few times, but stuck to the routine. Given the number of cruising mongers, the prospect of stopping mid-traffic seemed far too obvious and a sure way to attract the attention of unwelcome LE. I decided to bivouac at a metered spot on L to observe the scene.
Given the warm weather the action was spirited. Something interesting was observed, though, and that was that it seemed like only the WSW's worked L, while the BSW's worked both K and L (confirmed later - read on). Rarely, if ever did I see a WSW on K.
Anyway, LE was no where to be seen, and talent was in abundance. After several failed attempts finally zeroed in on a BSW of medium build who needed a ride. "Lollipop". What a great name. Went through the routine LE Q&A, settled on 50 for CBJ, and then headed to a quiet spot. Not bad, though, a little mechanical. Whatever. It did the job. She gave me her cell (for those interested), and said that much more, including a trip to the Greek isles, was on the menu. She did tell me that if I was looking for WSW action then L street was the place to watch. Not sure why that is.

Ahhh, good old Lollipop. She's a fixture out there these days. Nice enough girl. She's taking pills of sorts to beef her body up. She was tiny not too long ago but went to some doctor who prescribes pills to gain weight and it seems to be working. Sort of looks bloated though.
I've never heard anything about "segregated" strolls. I've seen WSW's on K plenty. Who knows.

Definitive info on Sun Club:
Sun Club has a GREEN door, with the number 701 on it. It is beneath the yellow awning for Arena Rotisserie Chicken which has the address 521 G St.
Ring the bell on left hand side of door, and they'll buzz you up, etc, etc.
At first I briefly hesistated to post this info given the recent discussion on protecting identity of locations from LE, but I figured that if the MP advertises in a public newspaper, I reckon LE is already aware of it.
In regards to LE on the loop, Mr. Pickle and I had a quite frustrating experience on Thursday night. Mr. Pickle had encouraged me to get out of bed in the middle of the night to peruse the loop. From the moment we got out there around 2:15, there was lots of action! Mr. Pickle was telling me to go on and make my selection, but I saw a few LEmobiles riding around, so I was taking my time to play it safe. Mr. Pickle can afford to be impatient, if we were to get pulled over, his identity would be concealed, but for certain LE would ask for my license. Sooo, just as I had zeroed in on a sexy HSW, about 5'4" and 115 lbs. in a tank top and short black mini...there was a BIG bust on the corner of L and 15th. At least 4 LEmobiles and 3 paddywagons. Mr. Pickle and I didn't stick around to figure out exactly what was goin down, and before we knew it, the streets were barren, with a few mere pimps in site, and a couple of less than enticing BSWs.
Greatly dismayed, we headed back home, to spend the night together, but alone. :(
Friday night, however, Mr. Pickle and I set out to avenge our previous night's frustrations. This time we wasted little time in making our selection: we picked up a fine BSW named Ms. Tina. She was about 5'7" 130 lbs, weariing a white and red circus outfit, and boy did she know how to do some tricks. We negotiated on $50 for a CBJ, and Mr. Pickle was definitely impressed by her technique. All in all, it was worth the wait and frustration. Mr. Pickle gave a round of applause, and he is prompting us to go out and give her a standing ovation.

Question: First off, I'll admit that given my newness to the sport, this may be a naive query to the group. Nevertheless, it must be asked. How else will I learn, grow, and evolve as a mongerer?
Anyway, in reference to my last post, reviewing the oft-mentioned Lollipop, in the course of our discussion of menu items she mentioned that not only did she offer full service, but that she also had a place for us to go. Some joint far north on 13th that she, I think I heard this correctly, referred to as a halfway house, or something like that, that rents out rooms for $25. Has anyone been to this place? Is it safe? Am I better off checking in to a ho-tel?
I balked, unsure of the area, and a bit timid to make such a leap of faith.
Curious if any of our fellow travelers have been to this spot.

You might want to post that in the Maryland forum under Montgomery County, since that's where Rockville is located. We need all the info we can get up here.
