As an example, I knew a beautiful and sweet young Vietnamese woman whose family went there as refugees. She described it as a nightmare. When I knew her, she was living in Italy. She felt very comfortable, liked, and welcomed in Italy. So while there may be truth in what you say, it can not be denied that the Japanese are indeed the most racist of Asians if not the most racist of all nations.

I have traveled to Japan numerous times. It is true that they look down upon the Okinawans. Mainland Japanese (if you can say that about people in an island nation) regard themselves as a homogeneous people and they wish to preserve that.

I also knew a Korean woman who was from Yanbian, which is an autonomous region in northeastern China, inhabited my two million ethnic Koreans. She regarded herself as Chinese and did not feel as though she had been discriminated against in any way when she lived there, which was until she was 40 years old. So I think it is possible for a nation to embrace various ethnicities and races within its borders. There are fifty six such ethnicities in China if I remember correctly. Granted that some of them (some Tibetans come to mind) wish they were not part of China. But some would argue that those people are actually better off as Chinese nationals than they would be as Tibetan nationals.
