As of this year, if you have had over $600 in transactions through any of these apps then they are required to send you a 1099-K form. Do you really want to be linked to an account that has illegal funds going in and out of it? These girls are probably sending their pimps money for drugs and who knows what else. If your sugar mama sends you 1000 bucks every month like clockwork, Venmo is not going to create a 1099 for you. That is extremely invasive and also doesn't make sense; a gift is not payment. You are only sent a 1099 if the account is set up as a business profile and the payments exceed 600 dollars or if the sender identifies their transfer is for a good or service when they transfer the money, and those payments exceed 600. That being said, I agree with the sentiment. Never smart to leave a digital fingerprint. Cash rules, always.
