Felony Patronizing a prostitute
NOTICE:
According to Cook County prosecutor Anita Alvarez, Governor Quin has signed the "Illinois Safe Children's Act" which also provides enhanced penalties for Johns.

The act increases the penalty for soliciting a prostitute from a B misdemeanor to an A misdemeanor, and patronizing a prostitute from an A misdemeanor to a class 4 felony.

In fact, second violations for these offenses were already eligible for the increased penalties, at the discretion of the prosecutor. This act appears to make it mandatory for first offenses.
If you are interested, the definition of solicitation and patronizing can be seen in the link below. Basically, the difference is discussing a sex act and committing an act of penetration. Hanging around a place of prostitution also counts as patronizing. Any comments?
Patronizing a Prostitute Now a Felony in Illinois

Any comments?
Governor Ryan signed HB6462 last Friday. The media has paid no attention to the increased penalties for adult prostitution-related offenses. While a prostitute who is engaged in an ongoing criminal enterprise from which she derives her income commits a Class A misdemeanor, her customers are all now Class 4 Felons. The rationale is that prostitutes are all victims of their customers who exploit them. This idea originated with Feminists who think that whenever a penis is involved in a sexual act, a woman is oppressed and exploited. It's now the law of this state. I think that it's unconstitutional for several reasons and I invite anyone charged with a felony under these circumstances to contact me by private message to explore a constitutional defense.
Ryan's in jail in Indiana
