Thanks for the explanation, but which is a nekohana? Is there a difference between a nekohana and a lady drink?
Mahalo,
Beav.
Bars are dying for a reason, and IMHO that reason is the lousy girls as others have discussed over time. I do not know what excuses girls use these days, but back then Nekohana was claimed to be a first "good luck drink" since they got to work, which today's girls still say even if you just saw them in the room or hustling $20 drinks or carrying the 5-drink ($100) special. Other girls referred to it meaning just a $5 drink.
AFAIK they're lady drinks but I've seen customers buy the male bartender a "nekohana".
There are probably other meanings but to be honest I never paid much heed to that word. It only mattered if she was asking for a 5, 10 or $20 drink, where we would sit and how she looked and was wearing; also was she new to me (Fee Fi Fo Fum: I smell BS), or has she been building a solid track record. Stuff like that.
Neko=I, me, my, mine (pronoun); hana=one. "One for me. " Or so it goes from a similar question asked from a long time ago.
Neko=I, me, my, mine (pronoun); hana=one. "One for me. " Or so it goes from a similar question asked from a long time ago.
I always thought the etymology of Nekohana was nickel hana. I. e. $0. 05 (gambling speak = $5) hana (one) Or neko = maneki neko (good luck cat) hana = one. More fun Neko = cat = pussy, hana = one. Buy a drink for pussy. LOL.

Of course, she had a somewhat thick Korean accent.
You don't forget your first one :)
Years ago, wasn't Evergreen called Hoban? It was a Korean restaurant I think. Of course dementia may have set in and I could be wrong. How about Club La La or Club Tomo? The original Crystal Palace on Sheridan St. Johnny's Place on Kona Street next to Seiko and Lollipop. Starstrip for dinner. Used to be a 4 am bar kindof across from Sada's (or Saba's). It was a 2nd floor place with a rather wide staircase leading up to it (I do believe it was located where KHON is now along with maybe a mattress store?. Again, dementia could be taking over, but wasn't Green Tea known as Hoban II? I cried when Walmart emptied that lot, must have killed about 10 bars.
SS.
Yes, before Evergreen. It was called Hoban. Hoban was also located on Waikamilo. Green tea.
Evergreen taking over Camelot.
Evergreen taking over Camelot.
I'm guessing they will be closing at 2 am now.
Hey Folks. Looking for a Korean Mama or Manager named Christine. Would be late 50's to early 60's. Divorced (but collecting ex's pension), with a church-going sister who is either 7th Day Adventist or Jehovah's Witness. Don't think Christine at Starlite is the one. PM is fine.
Otherwise, nothing unusual to report. Kalihi side seams dead. Twilight has a lot of young talent. But I think you got to be able to speak Korean to really enjoy the company there.
Hey.
What would happen if all the KB (in town anyway) were to belly up and close? For those who call the KB your watering hole or second house, seriously, where would you go? Just stay home, drink beer, jack off? Too bad no more Alakea players anymore. The local waitresses there were hotties!
Hooters? Sample some white chicks? LOL. Imagine your favourite KBG in a Hooter's outfit. CHEEE HUUU!!
There is a mama named Christine at Christine's Lounge in Pearl City area but don't know if that's who you are looking for.
Bar is in Waimalu. Christine is a good Mama, been in business for 20+ years on the Leeward side. I think she is 60, but still is attractive. A little plump, but I like'them that way. She golfs at Pearl Country Club regularly and knows a lot of HPD folks from the PEarl City station. She has an adult son "M", a nice guy. She did a good job raising the young man. Not much eye candy at that bar, but it is a good place to unwind after a round of golf.

I no mind stay home but it's the younger ones I feel sorry for.

There used to be a few young Asian girls in a quiet residential area long ago; that is much more exciting than a nighttime ghetto and potentially dangerous area like downtown.
