Boeing weakened the stock market somewhat, then the coronavirus news came along. Not long after that, Russia refused to lower oil production like the OPEC (Saudi Arabia) nations wanted them to agree to. The reaction was to increase production.
Because of the coronavirus, the demand for oil dropped significantly. The price of oil is down near $23 per barrel, which is much less than half of what it was 30 days ago.
Even without coronavirus, such a large drop in oil prices would have put huge pressure on the economy. Granted that both at the same time make things much worse until there is more certainty in the world and volatility drops back near normal levels.

Coronavirus will pass. Oil demand from travel will increase and then winter will come to the Northern hemisphere, which always increases demand for oil. Things will get better.

It's my understanding that the Saudi's were pressuring Russia / Iran to stop production, as there is too much inventory with less demand and prices were dropping too low. Russia, refused to stop production, so the Saudi's said fuck them and continued their production to further lower crude prices, which will hurt Russia / Iran. The Saudis can handle it.

This shit is killing people 2000 a day in Europe with no signs of slowing down. 1500 deaths yesterday between Spain, France, and Italy and these are all countries with robust medical care. If you look at the schematics regarding trajectory, the US is showing all the signs it will be worse off than Europe which is further supported by the sheer lack of proper preventive measures taken back in January (required social distancing with enforcement) when it was clear the likelihood of this hitting our streets was assessed by USA Medical officials to be high.

Are we still making flu comparisons? Read the CDC reporting. 10-20 times the lethality w / no vaccine or effective treatments to date. I have friends throughout the country in the medical community and the method of death is cruel. The virus creates a form of pneumonia unfamiliar to health professionals and you drown in your own internal fluids. Keep in mind flu numbers are skewed by the fact half the USA Population (165 million people) doesn't get vaccinated for one reason or another. While not 100% effective, flu vaccines work. But it can only be effective if you use it. You don't get that option with Corona.

Look at the lines for medical treatment in NY. They look like the fuckin county fair beer tent lines on opening day. While the concentration may not be as high as NY, the trend in case numbers in Florida should alarm everyone. As medical facilities reach and exceed capacity, you lose the ability to effectively treat patients and people will die due to a basic lack of initial care (ventilators, anti-inflammatory medication, antibiotics). Keep in mind as the number of infected rises daily, there are still patients from the days and weeks prior who require in-patient care which further compounds an already fucked up situation. The overwhelming majority of sick people are sent home infected because there aren't sufficient medical logistics to address a problem of this magnitude, especially one that grows exponentially by the day. Toss in the asymptomatic carrier curveball and late, minimally enforced social distancing measures and you have a shit show of a problem we aren't prepared to deal with. It is going to be fuckin bad, real bad.

On to pussy. Every walker, escort, chatter baiter, tinder friend, you name it is going to come face to face with this thing. Some may show signs, some won't. I wouldn't use a cough or fever as a litmus test. Four of five carriers may be asymptomatic. If you are fat, have high blood pressure, are diabetic, MALE or?? (not enough data to identify all vulnerable populations), you are already at an increased risk of having severe complications. For the invincible, young, healthy "that shit can't happen to me" crowd, 40% of all hospitalized and 20% of all USA ICU patients are below the age of 44.

Fast Facts: On March 13 there were 1300 cases and 26 dead. Today, Mar 28 there are 123,000 cases and 2200 dead. On Thursday, Mar 26, there were 1000 dead. Two days later, Mar 28, the death total exceeds 2200. My point being this thing grows exponentially and there are clear indications the transmission rate is accelerating.

If the US continues on this trajectory you will have thousands a day dying next week, tens of thousands a week starting in two weeks. There is zero indication we aren't moving in this direction. When you look at the statistics pay particular attention to the #'s of critically ill. These are the people that are dying.
