Emptying my pockets of everything but my keys and some money, I noticed a car appear alongside mine, then inch slowly forward, angling towards the sidewalk. A door opened and a very pretty Chinese girl stepped out, waved goodbye to the driver and disappeared into her building.
The other car pulled away and I got out, walking north along the row of homes to the address. As I got closer, I noticed the front door cracked open, a small face peering out at me through the raindrops.
"Hi. " she said, her voice small and light in the dim light.
"Hi. " I nodded.
She opened the door wider. "Please. Come in. ".
