So I know we all feel a little anxious when hunting. Has anyone gotten their wear and carry or ever carry when prowling? If so how do you keep it under wraps when you get ready for business?
I don't want to come off as preachy. Obviously this is a mongering board, so we all have loose interpretations of legality etc. And BTW I'm not anti-gun at all. For thoughtful consideration:
Case A (to bring to protect yourself. For me, a Hard No): I'd say the first thing they go over in the 16 hours of wear & carry training is how, under no circumstances, would you be found justifiable in use of your carry weapon in the presence of an illegal act. Umm, hello, mongering. So, you start with whatever goes down, you're not in the right for lawful purposes (welcome to felony territory). Then, please think of the downsides to having your weapon (probably too many to list) you leave it (unlikely), goes off accidentally (unlikely), provider sees it and is uncomfortable (more likely) . Then, the scenarios you're bringing it for. Perp hiding in bathroom bursts out. You think you can get to your carry weapon in time to calmly deter him / her (big burly lesbo)? More likely, they (he / she / it) has something on you, and they take your piece. Or, if you do get to it, it precipitates them to use theirs first, where possibly they wouldn't have without it. Or, if you do get to it, you point it, there is an exchange, goes off. Again, back to the "you're in the wrong" and facing the downside of everything, no matter the outcome. Remember, in the event of that unfortunate robbery event, those individuals (the provider and fellow criminal bursting in) have less to lose (most likely) than you. Leave the carry piece out of the mongering activity, and if you're shaken down, just give over whatever you have, live to see the next provider. Just my thoughts (and I have carefully thought about this), as I do carry.
Case B (you decide to monger, calling an audible, while carrying): Now, this I can say I've experienced. Would be willing to shift any thoughts to PM or Rants and Raves or whatever. Lets say out of state, carefully considering the reciprocity laws so you're legally carrying, driving from wherever to wherever, and you decide to stop off and visit a provider in a different city. You have the carry weapon. Do you leave in car while you visit (downsides for sure, even if you have a lock box), or do you (super discretely bring in, keep hidden, do not show, just leave in your pile of clothes, and make sure your mindset is if anything happens, that isn't here and I'm not considering "going for it" I guess I've done both, neither leaves me really feeling like I made a good call (of course, nothing has happened any of the times). I guess the purist would just not monger (at all) while carrying. Again, kind of going into this on a mongering board that we're an imperfect bunch.
