That doesn't mean anything .. Dude, you have to be very careful in that city . If you don't look familiar to the common people in that area, your safety can be threaten. Camden didn't get the most dangerous city in America for nothing. This isn't a large city like Boston. Most of the people know who's who in that area. For your sake , try to do your business from the car.

Most true. And I do understand that Camden is or was the murder capital of the country. Too all?, Next time I'm down that way, I will use a bit more logic.

I got out of my car just to get a drink and break a twenty and noticed these same stares! Very unsettling to say the least. From now on, I'll be bringing small bills with me.
By the way, were any of you guys cruising this past Saturday?. The smell of death on Broadway was horrible.

You almost feel like a target. I don't think it matters what your race is but rather your demeaner that makes you a target. I see plenty of white guys roaming broadway but you better beleive they know the hood and are street smart of the area which is something I am not and it shows to the area people. I get stares just doing a loop off a side street.

When you go to Camden , you are entering one of the poorest cities in America. I can't say it enough , be careful where you go and mindful of everything around you. A lot of the thugs on the streets in Camden have nothing to lose. Handle your business from the car if you can. We are in bad economic times right now and people especially in that city will do anything for money.
If I didn't see how bad it was for myself I never would have imagined a place like this existed in America. Very depressing!

You're definitely right about that. Especially if you're an out of towner like myself, you will be shocked to the core upon witnessing the mess.
When I visited there few months ago, I felt like I was passing through an Iraqi village in the aftermath of a bomb blast. It looked like the scene right out of Charles Bronson's Death Wish movies, which takes place in the Bronx in 1970's.
I'm from NY, and I've seen some really bad ghetto like Bed-Stuy, East NY, and South Bronx, but I must say Camden is the WORST, hands down.
I think this subject came up before, but which area would you feel safer in, Camden or the K in Philadelphia. I know alot of you guys venture to both areas which I do as well and I am curious to know your opinion. Honestly during the day the K would seem safer to me, but at night neither make me feel comfortable. I'm sure your race, type of car and mannerism would make a difference in your opinion as well as how you "stick out" as an outsider.

When I am trolling the Camden area, I bring my money with me. Also, there is a bank south of Camden in the next town over "Gloucester City" which is much safer to use. ATM included :-)

I also drive from NY and can say that some of these areas noted by Street Samurai are bad, but nothing comes close to Camden. I have been away from the Camden stroll for about a year, by choice.
Every time it is nice out, I get the urge to drive and pay Camden a visit, then my big head prevails, higher tolls and gas price is making the trip there not worth it, plus, an out of state later year model car trolling the strip will raise more than one eye brow, including LE.
The next time I get the urge to go there, I may visit the K stroll instead.

Hey TM, Thanks for the tip.
I'll add that I'll be bringing my own drinks and snacks also. One thing I have found in common, regardless of town, the girls seem to appreciate and desire a drink and snack after the date. I'm talking like the small chocolates that you give to kids on Halloween and small bottles of water. One girl seemed like she hasn't eaten in a while, so I drove her to a fast food joint and gave her a cheap meal.
Maybe they don't like the salty protein shake taste? I'm half tempted to carry small toiletries, such as little mouthwash bottles, that people use when they travel. Some girls look like they could use such basic items.

Some may have noticed that S.E. and myself are working on stroll maps that are located in the amateur forum.
Any info that you could send to either one of us would be appreciated by all who would find this info useful.
Please be specific as possible, including good locations along the stroll.
Don't feel as though "someone else will surely send something, so I won't".
Send it anyway. If nothing else, it would confirm a report by another member. Maybe even enlighten us to a spot we didn't know about.

You should stroll East St Louis, IL sometime. Gives Camden a run for the money, at least it did when I was there many moons ago. I hear Detroit is nice too.
