Why do we still like the street ?

Now I have a question on why some(ok most) of us (it includes me) keep looking towards the track and mostly end up paying 0.8 for car-dates. There are often better,more and guaranteed options on CL in the 0.8-1.0 range and it definitely means not having to drive around as much and it (in my mind - if you are smart with your CL choices) involves less risk of bust and a easier environment to .... umm - perform.
Unless you are talking FS session for 0.6 on the street, Does it not make sense to pay 0.8 to 1.0 on CL - take the guarantee and minimize (you can never eliminate) the risk in the hobby ?
Looking forward more perspectives into this - "obsession with the street" we all share!

I have a bit of experience with both. I am actually More nervous in a motel room than I am on the street. The risk of a sting (with LEO in the next room), or a Pimp waiting in hiding. Always check out the room(s) including the bathroom (shower), closets, even check the drapes. Also check elsewhere in the Guide for tips on how to close the deal with the minimum risk. There are risks if the provider (or her Pimp) are renting the room; not the least of which are hotel security videos recording your pressence. I really don't want the records created if I rent a motel room using a credit card. Risks (of a different kind) can be much greater in a motel where you can do a cash only transaction for a room.
If you follow many of the suggestions throughout the USA SG then you have a much better opportunity to see what the provider Really looks like. Too many providers on Craig's List are using out of date, or down right fake photos. If a monger remains observant there is much less chance of getting caught in a Sting. Especially since I have Never heard (any credible) reports of a LEO decoy getting into a monger's vehicle. Especially if you wait until after you have gotten a few blocks away from the "Stroll" or other pick-up site to begin negotiations there should be no chance of a Sting.
One of the biggest difficulties is finding a location to do whatever act(s) are agreeded upon. It is a Very Good Idea to cruise an area before you monger there. If possible check it out during daylight, and/or go out on an evening without planning to pickup a SW. Just see what the scene is like. Pick several areas to park, at LEAST several blocks from the stroll. Park there and see if people notice, a security guard, cops passing by, or other pedestrians or nosey neighboors. You should have several potential locations (and then NEVER LITTER) or do other things to Ruin "your spot" by leaving Evidence of what you do there. Be very careful about using a location selected by a provider!
Your choice of vehicle is at least as important as your selection of a location. Some vehicles can be difficult (to say the least) to commit some acts. Choose your "monger mobile" with due consideration; possibly a cheap used car from Craig's List or a public auction (especially if LEO in your area uses seizure tactics against Suspected mongers). An inexpensive vehicle that will not stand out is a good choice. Also try to get a reliable vehicle, and see that it gets basic maintenance (do you want to breakdown on or near a stroll?). Also ensure that there are NO out tail lights, turn signals, expired liscence tabs, or any other excuse for LEO to pull you over. If you have a Significant Other (or wife, etc.) you could tell her its a "Snow Car" (tell her you just drive it on occasion because "its bad for a car to sit for too long") AND you Can use it on snow days, or when your primary car is in the shop.
If I meet a provider who provides reasonable service, either from the street, or Craigs List, I try to get her phone number. If possible I prefer to meet a "regular" at a location other than a stroll. A local shopping mall, fast food joint, etc. It is extremely unlikely that you might get caught in a sting, none-the-less, do not be wonton. Also NEVER discuss "business" over the phone; make sure you tell your regular provider(s) that too; face to face. I tell them if they discuss business over the phone they will Loose my business (at least on that occasion). (IMHO it is almost inconcievable that LEO would be using a wiretap or whatever on a provider and/or monger. And nearly as little a chance they would be commiting so elaborate a Sting for a misdemeanor; but why take unnecessary chances?)
These are among my reasons for choosing the street over Craigs List. YMMV, as may local conditions. I consider, and may use either option on occasion. Be aware many providers who use Craigs List ALSO walk the streets. It can be to a Moger's advantage to check CL before going out crusing; you may recognize a provider! (Still make sure you do the checks in every case.) Be SMART, be Safe (at least as much as you can be.)
