Last two pickups I had were both non-pros needing cash for bills.

Since you are new please be advised that in metro Phoenix, you will pay a huge fine AND do a week in the County Jail (Tent City) for a first offense. No leniency either. SO if this is your playground, just be beyond careful unless you can afford the time off from work (not to mention the possible impact on your personal life). Not criticizing your hobby selection, just letting you know, as a newbie, what the penalties are so that you can make an informed decision, AND to keep your PoPo radar on high alert when out cruising.

Thanks for the heads up man. I new the penalty was extremely strict but nice to know what it actually is. It is very easy to let your gard down, especially once you've been doing this for years and no the game. If you play your cards right it is very hard to get caucgt but letting your gard down is very easy to do.
You really don't even want to get stopped / pulled over. I've heard "rumors" that (gasp!) LE might actually twist the facts to score the bust (oh Papa, surely you jest!). When it's down to your word versus the Poe-leece, guess who the Judge is going to believe. And it's not just marked cars you need to watch out for. Vice will cruise around in a variety of cars and trucks; often their own rides or vehicles confiscated during the arrest of other felonies (drug busts, RICO busts, etc.). So you never really know who is watching your activities. If you've played the game for years with no "LE interaction" to speak of, I'd also take a chance on a lotto ticket! Keep it safe out there.
If you figure a $500 fine, a week in jail (loss of job income $1, 000 or more) , court costs, attorney fees, etc. You are looking at a cost in excess of $3, 000 for one bust. Second offense is, I believe. 30 days in Sheriff Joes Hilton.
