I might have some sympathy for someone who unknowingly engaged in some shit like this but to knowingly try to diddle a middle schooler is pretty low. I make a point to not judge people on their monger choices unless you're some asshole with no street sense paying double but I draw the line at underage.

Of course you can be "charged" for anything but whether charges stick is another story. I am no lawyer but I don't see how charges that serious can stick if the "victim" isn't underage. Anytime the news cameras are around expect bullshit. If the provider is underage make sure you have people to put money on your books while you serve time.

People's looks can be deceiving though. I knew these kids who did a lot of drinking and drugging one time and they became friends with this woman one night and partied with her. These kids were 16 but it was later found out the woman was 40. She did look like their age though. If age is never talked about there is nothing either side can really worry about in most situations.

Just a follow-up. My daughter is now 29 y / o with a husband and two beautiful girls of her own. I don't know how she felt at that precise moment, I didn't ask. But we have spoken about the incident on occasion since she has grown up. She told me she felt protected and safe. She also said she got mad respect from her friends (boys and girls). Just knowing that her father would be there was a good thing in her eyes. I'm old now, so won't be able to be there like that for my grand children, but I can guarantee you her husband will be. He's a gentle giant, but I wouldn't piss him off. .

What if this is fake news? What if this whole story is a lie and everybody is in on it? What if those guys pictures are pictures of just random people or even people wearing a mask for disguise? Think about it. If they could catch that many guys doing this why didn't they just make the sting longer like set the arrests up for a later date and try to catch more people? What I'm saying is probably ridiculous but you can't help but wonder about a lot of things here. Why didn't they have a decoy that looked like a child that would meet them in the house like they did on that one show to Catch a Predator years back on Dateline. I mean did these guys even get a chance to knock on the door to come in to meet whoever they were going to meet when they got to their house or were they arrested when they pulled up? I think there is a lot of holes in this story.

The bust probably wasn't so much for the 23 they caught, it's for the hundreds they didn't catch as a warning I would guess. They certainly don't seem to care about convictions. It's unfortunate, but even without convictions, those guys have more than likely lost everything.

IMHO it is a stage up, not a real bust, if it was real, the monger would have lawyered up and not allow his face to be shown. And if it is real, that's why you have to stay smart and do not cross the line of solicitation on you conversations, text, mail or voice, that way you have plausible deniability.
Be smart when you contact providers even if it's a regular or even your ATF. Never mention specifics or amounts. And this is where the burner comes in, crush it or even deny its ownership, play dumb and you're making a really hard case for them.
Remember, the law can go both ways, if they bust you while not having a solid case, you can sue them and cash out. LEO has to be careful about that too.

How did society decide that 18 is the majic number that makes it ok. Despite that, I find these men dispicable, and here is why:
I work in the medical field and have studied psychology and anatomy extensively. There is a significant difference between being attracted to a woman who has gone completely through puberty but happens to be under 18, and a girl who is either in puberty or hasnt even started it yet. Psychologically, it is considered normal for a grown man to be attracted to a sexually mature female even if she is much younger than him. He may learn over time to ignore those urges to fit a societal norm, but its normal to feel that way. It is natures way of keepibg the species going.
It is not normal for a 50 year old man to specifically target girls who arent yet sexually mature.

If the story is true, they knew the "girls" were underage. They said they posted as being 14 or 15! I hope they get them all (assuming those details are true).

I'm pretty convinced this story is bogus somehow. Maybe not even real cops were in on this.

They are all facing serious time, wrecked families as well as wrecked careers.
