This is why we say NEVER pay first. Even if you don't get scammed, you normalize a risky process. Yes, you'll miss a few dates. My (totally WAG) impression is that roughly half the providers who walk rather than get paid at the end were trying to scam your money (ROB). I've "seen" two recently.
