To those of you familiar with this area of Wilmington this is just a refresher, to those who aren't I suggest you read on.

Lets start with Vandever Ave. From approx Lamotte to Northeast Blvd is possibly the bumpiest worst section of road in America. Sorry but my wrecker doesn't ride like a Cadillac.

If you draw a square around Northeast Blvd, e14th, E Church, and Vandever you will find yourself in the worst neighborhood in Wilmington. Their is nothing good that happens here. It's sometimes thick with SW's but 3 times as thick with Uncle Leo. Its just a known spot for that activity. Mind you if you're white, you will be the only white person within that area hence making you a target. Uncle leo had 3 good samaritans hemmed up on e16th and thatcher last night and they were in a late 90's Toyota Corolla with a blueberry on the dash. Avoid this area if you can.

Lets talk about Northeast Blvd. Any street on the south east side well that be in the projects. I don't mean to make this about race but unlike the police, I can profile. In my 10 years of speading the gospel according to St. Repo, I have not once seen a SW here. Also, on the same side of the street near the intersection with 38th is the Thunder Guards Motorcycle "Club" Their parties on Fridays and Saturdays during warmer months get rowdy to say the least. They also have spotters to keep an eye out for people in the neighborhood who don't belong. The last thing you want is a bunch of drunk biker gang guys thinking you are on the wrong side.

Now this brings us to the Northwest side of the Blvd. The area between Vandever and 26th is part of this "renaissance" movement. Basically they tore down a bunch of crappy houses and used your tax money to provide new house to make back into crappy houses. Regardless, avoid it like the plague. They are big into the neighborhood watch as well as have a Rent A Dick driving around. Mind you all you will hear from him is Stop or I'll say Stop again, but he will most definitely furnish your tag number to the authorities.

The LE hangout spots on the updated map is spot on, but to add to it, right near Wilmington Fire Station 3, they like to munch donuts in the parking lot while talking smack to the FF's.

Anyway, yeah this area is much drier than it use to be. In the old days, you could score regularly in the projects. Now you still see some on NE Blvd itself as well as Vandevere <sp area. But way way down Comparedto old days.

Drove to Baltimore today from NYC. Just after crossing the Delaware Memorial Bridge and passing thru the toll plaza, I saw the golden arches and got off for some coffee. It's Rte 9 north.
