WOW ... I am very grateful for the advice. I had no idea how dangerous picking up a SW could be. I have much to learn.
I am rethinking even messing around with SW's altogether.
For now I am sticking to the AMP's ... I have a weakness for Asian women, but on my limited budget I can't visit them as much as I would like to.
I have never tried any of the DC AMP's that I have seen posts about (Downtown, Supra, Mirage, etc). I have been having good luck with HWC in N VA.

I have never had any major problem (good luck for sure) with the SW scene in DC but it is dangerous and you have to have to be fully alert at all times...thus the thrill.
I would add a couple of small details to trashman's prodigious post. Anytime you come in contact with a man in the SW scene, whether he is offering help finding ladies, hanging out near an area you want to park, or in or near a hotel or other room you arer going to, JUST WALK AWAY from the deal no matter how the lady might protest. Any interaction with a dude can only be bad news.
In my opinion the ultimate wisdom of the SW scene that almost everyone ignores is that you don't have to just frequent the most popular SW beats. THese areas have great ho's but also the lions share of con artist, muggers, and men in blue. Give yourself some time and approach the main areas slowly, and drive around some first. Sometimes you can find some hot chicks, in much more mellow neighborhoods and avoid most of the predators and scavengers.
For those who have the bucks, just go to the AMPS! But please be firm with the mamasan about what you want and have tip in hand to prove you are serious. Way to many whoremongers are getting ripped off in these places since they are learning that they can get $100. from you and keep their clothes on. Good for them bad for us. If it doesn't feel right it's not, so walk out.

Directions and a report on the Downtown AMP in DC:
1) Directions: the Downtown Spa is located at 1018 Vermont Ave, N.W. Washington, DC, 20005-4973, between K and L, on the left-hand (west) side. I noticed that a couple of WSG posters had complained about not being able to find the place. I dropped by there earlier this week and now I understand why: there is no sign anywhere for this place. This AMP is located on the 4th floor of an old 4-story building crammed between two taller new office buildings. On the ground floor there is nothing except "1018" on the glass front door and some partially scaped-off gold leaf lettering for an "herb n spice" restaurant that is now closed. There is also a neon sign hanging inside the window to the left of the front door, but the front of the sign is missing and there's no writing to read. The ground floor lobby inside is also empty, except for a small mailbox that says "4th Floor" - that's the mailbox for the AMP.
Walking up the stairs is a surreal experience, as you feel as if you're in an abandoned building. There is nothing on the second floor landing except a boarded-up door. On the 3rd floor landing is the door to the herb n spice restaurant, but it is also padlocked and boarded-up. Finally you walk up the stairs to the 4th floor, where you find a wooden door with lots of little credit card stickers on it and a peephole, but no sign, nothing to indicate where you are. Ring the doorbell, and they'll let you in.
2) Report: I've been patronizing AMPs regularly since 1989, and my visit to Downtown this week was quite possibly the best session I've ever had at an AMP. I paid $60 to a 40-ish lady after I got into the place. She asked me if I had been there before and I said yes, and that I had been there a year ago and had gotten a $150 special. The woman put a finger to her lips and said "I only collect the $60, you'll have to ask the girl" but winked while she said it.
Then a Korean girl named Cindy walked in - very attractive face, brown hair with reddish streaks, no more than 22, thin and relatively tall with nice legs, and small but perky tits (no implants). I did not tip up front. After the usual table shower and massage in the room, she asked if I required anything else, to which I replied "let me get my wallet for a tip" and laid a $100 bill on the bedside table. I then proceeded to have the best sex session I've had in a long time, a real GFE, with ass-rimming, CBJ and her on top for the finale. I will definitely be back here again soon.

There are lots of hot Ethiopian ladies in DC, but as far as I know, all of them are only available as regular girlfriends - I've yet to meet an Ethiopian in DC who was in the sex provider business (although there might be one or two working as independent escorts).
And yes, the one Ethiopian girl who I dated back in 1996 and 1997 was hot, hot, hot!!! and loved to f--- like a rabbit. Unfortunately she wanted to get married, and I didn't, so like most good things, that came to an end.

thanks Spearsman I expected that to be the case. nothing seems to be happening on the streets lately it seems that many ladies are working out of hotels in the college park area for some reason. My question is why college park are the girls Terps fans or something?

I can't personally recommend this one, but she is in the Reston area. I found her ad in the city paper. Called her once for a massage (maybe that is all you get ??), but she was all booked up and I never got to sample her services.

Hey guys. I gave a friend directions for Downtown, but he says the door has been locked everytime he tries it. Anyone else having this problem? Maybe he's at the wrong door? Anyone know their hours?

Downtown hours are variable, but I've been there at noon and I've been there at midnight. The door on the street is adjacent to a now closed restaurant and appears that you are entering an abandoned building. Immediately after you enter the foyer, there is a set of stairs to your left. They are on the 3rd or 4th floor and as you walk up it is an experience to say the least as someone else posted once it's surreal because it appears to be an abandoned crack building with boarded up doors on the way up. At the top is a door which requires you ring the bell to gain entrance. If this is the door your friend is referring to then either they are closed at that time or they think he's LE. Trust me, they know when you enter the building!

Read on another board that Downtown was closed for extended duration (over a day) probably due to Health Department or other minor business violations.....it is expected to reopen shortly, according to other boards...

I was at the Downtown just last week...I have always had a great experience there, staff is always friendly and the place always seem very clean...only problem is making up those flights of stairs! Last week I met Heidi, who said she had only been here a week - in from California. Fantastic. I have always paid the 60 to the mamasan (who's actually pretty cute herself, maybe in her 30's) and then given 5 jacksons up front, asking "are you going to take really good care of me?" - with a big smile of course.
