Your post should be required reading for anyone considering a visit to a provider's apartment in an urban environment. Your points are well taken, but there is a misunderstanding re my post. My going to Susy's apartment is no certainty.
My question about the baggies stems solely from my concern about Susy being an IV drug user. That is why I asked about heroin vs. crack. (I have only seen one or two heroin baggies, and I probably could not distinguish one from an M&M.)
Based on prior reports, I would only visit Susy during the day, perhaps mid morning. If there were junkies or other undesirables in the stairwell, I would turn around and leave immediately. Likewise if I saw needles or other dangerous items in the stairwell, guys in her apartment, or anything else objectionable.
My preference is to take Susy to a safe place for a 60-90 minute stay. If the first encounter in her apartment goes well, I will insist on a change of venue for future encounters.
I talked with Susy a few times, and I feel sufficiently comfortable to go to her apartment. However, before making an appointment (with any provider), I politely insist on a few ground rules such as the amount of time we will spend together. If we cannot reach agreement, there is nothing more to discuss.
If the BBBJ starts 15 seconds after I say hello, there is no time to look for those critical "non-track mark telltale signs". For this and many other reasons, I want time to chill before the serious action starts.

No one who picks up streetwalkers in the areas we cruise, or goes to Susy's apartment, is using good judgment. A lot of mongers are in denial or have no idea that Susy or the SW in their car might be HIV positive or carrying a serious STD. The same thinking applies to the risk of assault and robbery.
Some of us have the street smarts to avoid obvious danger, but no one has enough street smarts to escape harm, over the long term, in this hazardous hobby.
I try to gather all of the facts before I make a move in a potentially dangerous situation. I think of myself as being more like EL AL than TSA. This is probably self-deception…
I have been looking for a skilled BBBJ provider, and with Susy, her age is acceptable and her price is right. I am interested in seeing her, but I am proceeding with caution.

From what I hear, most of the drug dealers in Boston Common and Chinatown are now conducting their business in the area around the Pine Street Inn. The "sting" was probably an offshoot of a larger, drug-related effort.
If I was conducting a sting, and only nabbed one hooker, I would not be writing articles about it.
