Here is the one of the old posts on Melissa
Melissa comes and goes, she was around for a bit in 2009, then again in 2010. Now she is back, I've dated her in the past, long ago, and she was good. The reports I've seen on her have been good so if she is your type give her a ride!
This post was from 2007.
The New York Times columnist Nicholas Kristof mentioned Melissa in one of his columns in 2002! Her story seems really interesting. I am 99% sure that it is the same Melissa, because both the age (mentioned as 18 years in the 2002 column) and the place of birth (New York) matches, as well as her full name and the location (Tampa).
See Melissa mentioned (and quoted!) in the New York Times column, here (you have to scroll down a little bit, and find the article, which is titled "Shaming Young Mothers") :

Another article from September 2002 also mentions and quotes her ineven greater detail:

By the way I agree totally with what Melissa says in the article. She makes very good points, in fact. She comes across as very spirited and intelligent in the article. Who knows what went wrong in the intervening years and how she ended up where she is now? Sad, very sad.
Here's the sheet, by the way:

Catching mongers is the last thing that I thought of
Dam that sucks, each time they keep putting more and more pressure
You think it's bad now?
I have no idea why our local police departments across the nation are gearing up with all this high tech hardware and excessive firepower.
Well I do, but I don't want to come off as a conspiratorialist, it just ain't looking all that good the next couple of years and any type of hobby we may have could become an extreme luxury for us or for the girls a strict matter of survival like none we could think of.
It sucks to know history and all signs are pointing to a not so very good future for us.

Melissa and Nowatney report
Melissa was never "small" she used to be quite thin, but she is tall. 5 ft. 10 in. Or so. I had forgotten about the smell though. That other monger is right, it had been reported that she stinks. The girl with the dolphin tattoo on her belly was Kristina or something like that. She was hot! My Vice posted pictures of her smoking crack. She got out of jail a while back and one monger posted that he picked her up by the laundry on 142nd late at night a few months or a year ago. I haven't seen her out in years. I can't remember the limping girl's name, but I heard she set mongers up for Leo. I almost dated her once but she gave me a weird vibe, so I dropped her off with the old "I thought that you were my old friend Mary" line.
I saw only Lana in Nowatney, so I did not pick anyone up. I noticed Yoyo was back out on Nebraska. She was south of Fowler on the east side of the street. I'm still looking for something new.
Hey Skiper. Something you said finally rang a bell with me and I realized that I knew Melissa from a long time ago too. She wasn't just smaller then, she was tiny with a cute little body. Worked down off 124th. Trying to place how long ago it was. Probably before or at the same time as the little brunette with the funny walk (looked like she had hip problem) and the cute blonde with the dolphins swimming around her belly button. Man, I can't believe I didn't recognize Melissa. I'm getting old!
