I leave my profile pic blank. It's basically an instant message program like Yahoo messenger for us old farts.

As far as hiding it on your phone, I am sure you can turn off all notifications. However, the safest thing to do if you don't want anyone seeing anything if they pick up your phone is to log out / exit the application. It's kinda confusing to do but if done successfully, the next time it's launched, it will require a password and wipes all previous chats, but keeps your list of chat buddies.

There is a lot of great intel / info on this forum on how to make it happen still on CL. I did it. Summary: Rocker / hippie chick who's usually a good value when she's priced right.
