My 2 cents. The gals are going to advertise rates on the high side just like we would if we were in that position. I always set a budget for a situation and stick with it. I text them back if they are willing to have a date at my budget minus some wiggle room. They will come back and than say this is the minimum I am willing. At that point it is easy to just say you are outside of my budget or game on. For this to work you have to be willing to override the small head. Several times the conversation ends with have a great day to then receive a text back in about an hour saying hey If you are still interested I can see you for your budgeted rate.
I like to see them advertise high to get the top dollar from the tourist or snowbirds, than I can see them at the lower rate when they need to fill in empty slots. You must be willing to walk away. If we all did that I think the extreme rates would go away. But I do not think we should low ball them where they cannot survive. Fair market rates for locals, high rates for others is what I like to see.
