At the very least, the Mexican border officials should have security personnel monitoring the line to answer questions and keep things orderly, but what a mess.

So what actually happened is they are checking _all_ documentation for everyone, not just Mexicans. So gringos had to do 2 stops, first wait in line to show your passport to an agent, what's new is they would scan your passport and it would prefill out the fmm, but they only had like 1 guy with a printer and this backed up the line. Then once you had your prefilled fmm you then had to go to see a second agent which meant waiting in line again. This agent would ask how long your stay was, make you sign, and then finally tear off the bottom and you were on your way. It required waiting twice to see an agent and then the bottleneck with a single agent with printer that could fill the fmm. This continued until about Saturday afternoon, at that point they stopped. Checking documents all together.

However I think it was a bit of a rough start to the new system, because Saturday night they again were checking _all_ for documents however this time they had about 5 agents all with printers and it was a single stop, you go to the first available agent, hand your passport, they scan it and prefill the fmm and then give you your copy right there and its done, no more signature on the fmm even. So it went by pretty smooth.

It also means you need to have your passport, for you guys that refuse that get even the $65 card and just kept paying the $20 bribe (which has stopped although I heard reports sometimes they'd like you for $30) then you may want to consider driving in.

[/QUOTE]I actually turned around to leave, but a gentleman in the line saw that I didn't have any personal items and said to head straight to the turnstile and go through to the US checkpoint. A couple of other people seemed to corroborate the information, but unfortunately there were no border security to ask. No way will I stay in that line. It's even worse than trying to get back to the USA without a sentri card.

How are they separating people into the residents vs visitor lanes? Do residents have to show Id? Has anyone crossed at PedWest? What's it like over there?

You can check Facebook, there's an actual group that reports on crossing the border. Also you can check Reddit sub, TJRedlightDistrict.

Took taxi to the line. I have a passport card and I still had to make the line with others (both Mexicans and US).

The only way to pass quickly is having Sentry.

I went to HK last weekend and thankfully there was no line to get into Mexico. Ironically, while I was crossing over into Mexico, there were PLENTY of border security personnel while entering into Mexico. Where was security the night they decided to check identification for everyone? I am sure if they'd been there, it would have helped keep tempers down and made things more orderly.

What's with all the construction around HK? I've seen some recent YouTube videos and it looks like the sidewalk and the street are tore up? Anyone know how long it will last?

I am planning on parking my rental at San Ysidro and hop on to the other side this Friday and coming back Saturday or possibly Thursday evening and back on Friday. I'll be in SD from Thursday night to Sunday morning. Any tips? So many info and I've never been to TJ let alone MX so don't know what to expect. I'm also Asian and idk if TJ providers have seen that many Asians before. I speak barely any Spanish. I kinda want to start contacting some agencies and stuff. Both USA Citizens and foreign nationals (tourists and those associated with the many foreign owned factories in TJ). Not an issue.

I don't know if the escorts get many Asian customers, but I suppose they get some.

TJ is a reasonably large city and there are even Asians living there full time, plus the tourists.

If it's your first time I would skip the agencies and just do HK personally, for the huge variety and you can see the girl before you end up being stuck with her, but that's just me.

Tijuana is a border city, the busiest intl land crossing in the US and fourth busiest in the world. The place is flooded with Americans and has been for at least 100 years (gringos have been coming at least since prohibition days), you won't stick out in the slightest (in the red light district especially), gringos are crawling all over speaking English and they're white, black, Indian, Asian, etc. Etc. Etc.

I think cumintj and Mexico lindo bar are about the only agencies that have US numbers, all the rest you'll communicate through whatsapp so yes get whatsapp, if you meet any girls at the clubs who want to give you their number then whatsapp is also the only option. If you don't want to use your personal number you can use google voice and register with that number on whatsapp. Agencies also use telegram (an app).

As a complete newbie its honestly just easier to stick to HK club your first time, the ladies will literally take you by the hand through the whole process and they are all used to using google translate. Stay at the Cascadas hotel or rizo, both are owned by the HK group and HK girls can only go to those hotels while on shift, Cascadas is right next door and rizo is across the street, you walk with the girl from the club to the hotel. If you don't book an HK affiliated hotel then you will be paying $40 for a short term room (30 min) every single you go up with a girl, if you have your own room you only pay for the girl and not the room each time. This will be staying right in the red light district. Now with that said most the escort agency girls won't go to the red light district (indepedent escorts often will though) but your first time HK is probably enough, you can also go to Tropical bar across the street as its also HK affiliated and you can take girls there to the same hotels.

Enjoy. That said be mindful, $300 is not a lot of money when seeing bar girls. Girls are asking for $150, you can often negotiate a bit to $120, at tropical perhaps even $100, but be prepared to receive a 'default' opening offer of $150 particularly at HK. Round 2 will be either later that night or early next morning. Then check out of Cascadas and hopefully find round 3 before I head back to SD for my 6 pm flight.

So my questions are:

I would allow a min of 3-4 hours to make it to the airport. It will take 20 min to get to the border. Then anywhere from 1 to 1-1/2 hour to cross the border. It will take another hour by trolley or 30 min if you drive. You can also check by using the border traffic app. There is 30 free trial (no credit card required). They have free webcams. If you see the lines backed up then figure a hour wait.

There are probably better quality girls at SD but at a higher price.

Last but not least, I kind of want the TJ experience. I've been to Bangkok and Pattaya in my younger days and it was a blast. This is probably the closest to that experience in the US.

[/QUOTE]You can get by without pesos at all. I only spend pesos on taxi from the border and on water bottles in convenience stores. Everything else is either card or USD. Exchanges before the crossing on US side are all fair.

All clubs rent rooms short-term. HK is $40 afaik, Chicago $20. I don't think said MP makes any particular sense.

When I leave the hotel at 9 am, I am at the gate at 11. That's trolley to Middletown, then rental car shuttle. Uber from the border will probably be even faster.

I recommend taking free limo to HK. Once you are out of the border crossing, you will see a taxi stand, turn right and walk few seconds to the colorful pavilion on the side of the parking lot, it has a sign Zona Shuttle or something along these lines. Go inside and just say Zona Norte or Cascadas. The staff will take care of you. Same way back to the border.

Crossing back can be a little difficult first time. There likely be a long line of people, you need to walk forward along the line until you see a dedicated Sentri pedestrian line right of the main line, you cross the main line and walk to the border in this dedicated line. Rest should be easy.

It varies a lot depending on the day. This why I recommend you use [URL]bordertaffi.com[/URL] app. You can view it for free if you register. Choose San Ysidro, & pedestrian & then camera #2. This shows the end of the pedestrian line. Sometimes the line extends to the end of street. If the line is that backed up. Then it is probably a hour to 1-1/2 hour. I recommend monitoring several hours before. This give you a general idea how long the wait is. General idea how long the wait time is. The CPB has their own border wait time site. But it is inaccurate. There is also Pedwest. The downside is that you walk across the pedestrian bridge to. Catch the trolley. It only takes 30 minutes to reach America plaza (located by Santa Fe depot).

I Ther is also a free airport shuttle bus that runs every 15 minutes.

I take it you mean walking, right? I went a couple of weeks ago on a Tuesday and came back around 5 pm. It took me around 45 minutes to get thru. I don't have sentry, if you do it's prolly 5 minutes since there's no line.

Could take a couple hours for you to return. Bring some earphones or something to read and make sure your cell battery is fully charged to keep yourself entertained.

I'm pretty sure you can't, but I want to ask anyway. Are you allowed to bring taco stand food back across the border into the US? I want to try the street food but I don't trust my stomach and I would feel better if I could eat it at my hotel.

I posted this in the OC forum, too, but I am posting it here too in case some of you do not watch that forum.

I just returned from another great trip to TJ. I stayed two nights are Cascadas, and the VIP discount made the price reasonable. I also had a great time with two girls and another unusual experience. Right after I first went into HK, a really nice looking girl named Hera caught me, and immediately made it known to me that she would give me a great GFE. I had not even looked around yet, but she was hot enough that I asked the price. She immediately quoted 100, so I said let's go. When we got to the room, she lived up to her word and gave me everything I wanted and more. I did about everything I could think of, except anal, and gave her a nice tip at the end.

So I've been craving menthol cigarettes for the past couple of months or so, and since they banned menthols and flavored cigarettes in California, I was planning on heading over to TJ for a day trip to buy a carton or two while hitting up Zona Norte. Yes you do. Have cross to buy from a duty free shop. The last I heard the limit was 1 carton. But that was many years ago. I have not seen or heard of any Ukranian's on the Zona. But it would be nice if there was.

The ukrainian scene is off one of those sites rather than at the bars, from what I've been told. Some uber I hired to do cigarette runs for me last year told me about them and confirmed it with pictures, but the site continuously changes and the telegram group died. I'll post it here if I can get back in touch with him.

I've been hearing there are a lot of cops shaking down Americans at the border. When you go, be careful in general. Don't drink heavily, or do drugs.

Zy, I just checked because I stop at the Santa Ysabel Casino gas station often, according to a search online you can buy menthol and flavored cigarettes at Indian casinos, they don't say what the limit if any there is, but it's got to be cheaper than a border run unless you are just adding that to a Zona run rather than vice versa. Just an FYI, I don't smoke but I saw all those things in the store when I got gas a couple weeks or so back.
