Took a cruise on the Ave last night from 8:30-10-ish. First thing I noticed was a cruiser parked on Von Hillern Street, right by / on the bridge. He was parked back on Von Hillern a bit, so that he would not be visible to cars and really to girls walking south. Clearly the word is out on the bridge, which is too bad, because that's been a the smart place to find good girls all summer. On the other end of this little strip, towards Columbia Rd, there were several cruisers parked, and others apparently slowly mulling around. The police have received complaints from residents along this strip, folks who sit in their houses by the window and watch for girls and then call the police to tell on them. Lots of LEO there now.

Yes Mr. Bao, I agree. The allocation of tax dollars and related resources (police manpower etc) is ultimately political. If you consider the optics of it, moral crusades like this make for good headlines and therefore good politics for the politicians associated with those headlines. But it is not necessarily what's best, or right.
Real police work, however, which I am sure our police force is absolutely capable of, requires time, really years, to pay off. It requires diligence and delving deep into the street via relationships and the development of an army of confidential informants, undercovers, lots of daily blocking & tackling, chopping proverbial wood, and it requires lots of watching and waiting while being in the right place at the right time to catch people in the act -and note you need the intel based on all the former in order to be able to pull off the later. And you really need to start with the smallest things, minor crimes, to establish a zero tolerance for crime policy and develop thicker case files for budding criminals. Obviously I am a proponent of the so-called Broken Window theory of law enforcement.
Anyways, the above takes a strategic vision and it takes time to roll out and really enforce. And so the politicians are unwilling to wait that amount of time for a payoff in the headlines, so they would rather generate cheap sound bites for victim-less crimes of morals as opposed to real crimes.
Yes it's a rant, but it's something that bothers me deeply. We are constantly double-crossed and betrayed by our politicians who take the easy way out as opposed to take the longer hard road, however better in the long run for the constituency that may be.
One thing I would take issue with though is your characterization of the police force. Although a number of them play kinda dirty in their effort to catch johns, they also are between the politicians screaming at them to do more and the reality of the streets, where you have sometimes desperate girls trying to just make a few bucks discreetly, and otherwise normal upstanding every day folks, johns, who happen to discreetly pick up the girls. I don't know that it is necessarily in ta given police officer's nature to be out busting balls and cracking skulls over all this. But nonetheless.

Took a cruise late night last night, cruised The Ave and BHA from midnight 'till 3 am. The Ave had a fair amount of LEO activity, cruisers up and down. I didn't have a pickup but just giving some info and insight. I was out Tuesday and Wednesday before Thanksgiving on DOT Ave. Tuesday was on and off between 6:30 PM and 11:30 PM, and between Fields and Andrew. In that timespan, I saw 5 definites and 3 maybes. I saw one towards the end that was a big boned (not in a bad way) blonde with a ponytail. She went down a side street after Savin Hill and got picked up. Wednesday was between 7:30 PM and 10:30 PM, same general area. This time looked like there was 7 definites. Same blonde from previous evening but was totally ignored by her. I walked up further towards Algonquin to avoid the drama where I found a HSW with a large neck tattoo. Got a FS for $25. I believe the name she gave me was Marisol. If so, she says she hangs either near Codman or Fields Corner Wednesdays through Saturdays after 2 AM. Her BBJ was great!. No digits unfortunately. I have not been looking on the ave in several weeks and only casually looking when in area. Yesterday I was in area and made a loop from Andrew to Adams back to Andrew I saw a girl walking along near bridge pulled into side street to loop around for a better look as I thought she was a regular girl walking from or to work. Scooped her up on side street very cute and looked clean said her name was Amanda we had a nice convo on way to spot. Got a great BBBJ for a until she gagged a couple times and needed a break.
