On that note, I can say in regards to the Ace I've never 'cruised' it, only passed by in front of it. With how open the areas are, I never have felt comfortable with riding into the Ace, nor the Hiway Host or the Budget up the road either. With the way that area of town is, it's best to make a wide sweep of the area even before you attempt to do anything towards picking someone up. I've seen cops hiding in all places down that road, from the bread store in Lipscomb all the way down to the generic Piggly wiggly and club across he street in Brighton. Look in dark areas like in the funeral home lot and the road heading down into the couple of trailer parks along that way as well. Also, most girls who ever stay at the Ace seem to like to walk out in front of it, so if you ride around the area and just don't make youself too noticeable you'll eventually see one. That is common knowledge information anyone needs to know who wants to cruise that area.
You have posted the gospel here Clark. Any time day or night you are likely to see LE parked or steady patrolling this area. Birmingham, Lipscomb and Bessemer all seem to overlap in the area.

Yeah, that's Aimee, and the BSW you've noticed is Donna, who Blad, I believe, and I knew from a while ago. The last few weeks there have been literally an explosion of SW activity everywhere. Anyplace you know that is an active SW stroll, just ride around and be patient and you'll find someone fairly decent. I'm not much into mongering anymore but am in prime territory often and for quite a while it looked like the pickings had gotten slim. Not the case lately.
Yeah, the lack of girls in the last year or so is partly the reason in my slimming back in my activities as well, not to mention the increase in gas prices. Went through Bessemer last night. I know it was a Tuesday but only saw one possible WSW. About 25 petite, brown hair. Walking near the bowling alley. After two passes by her got no look or wave so I figured better go on. From reading the post it sounds like Bessemer is still active. I've been through. There twice with no luck. Is there any times that are better to go there?
Also still looking for any info on the blonde named Cheyenne that use to be around there, if anyone has seen her or knows if she's still around.
I wonder if the girls were getting paid for their flagging. Most girls who live at Lovelady have legitimate jobs, and I doubt would work somewhere for free, regardless of what it was for. I used to mention always seeing former SW working at the Eastwood Red Lobster, which got to such frequency I had to quit going there as the reasons for going there to eat and running into a 'former fuck' didn't mesh up, LOL.
As for the girl at the Budget in Bessemer, I ride by that way occasionally. That's part of the stretch that connects with the Ace, and it's just hard to swing back around to scope out the area. It never fails if I turn into neighborhoods on either side of the Budget, that when I come back to the Super Highway there'll be a cop slowly passing by. I've passed by there now a couple times since that girl was mentioned, and I haven't seen any activity around the Budget. But my times for riding by is during the night, and there hasn't been any activity around there at night in over a year. Almost every time I pass by the Ace, however, I see this older white girl with long hair standing somewhere out in front. There's just so many hiding places where cops could be watching down that stretch of road that even if I was curious in getting a closer look, it's not really worth it to me to deal with the hassle that might come with it if I was spotted doing so. That is the type I'm interested in so I'll continue to occasionally scope it out and see what I come up with.
The west side of town is also quite popping lately. Around the clubs like Crossroads and the former Sammys or Magic whatever it's called. Around the times they close there's girls walking down the strip looking for dates, it seems. I saw 2 smoking hot girls walking down from the Shell heading to the food place inside the gas station that's down the street. The cops were trailing them like an escort daring anyone to try to pick them up. Even over on Tuscaloosa Ave it's quite active of late. I've seen no activity around the Budget in Bessemer, though every time I've passed by the Ace the older long haired girl that's been staying there for a while is always out in the lot. I guess even with the easy availability of the online options for the girls nothing beats getting out on the street to make immediate money. It seems only the colder months have less activity because of it.
Also I've seen Aimee outside of the Motel 8 almost every time I pass by there. I never remembered her waving to every car that passes, though, but she does now. It's almost a mechanical wave, like she really doesn't care. What was funny is when I passed she was standing there, and I hear this dude go 'yo !' and when he did that she starts waving, like he's profiling cars passing by and deciding who for her to wave at. Bessemer is usually out of my zone but I was through there last Saturday and think I saw the girl that has been mentioned here. I tivo'd a documentary about girls on the street a while back ("Hookers at the Point") and just got around to watching it this week. Early in the film, one of the girls they were interviewing says "we have to remember that most of these guys are working class; they work all week for that money." My jaw dropped and I almost hit the floor. Imagine a working girl with a grasp on market economics and a want to provide a good service in exchange for hard earned money! The film was shot over a few years in the early to mid nineties. That really wasn't all that long ago; can someone tell me what the hell happened?

I loved that old HBO documentary. That was back during the old days when I was really active. I also think it came out in the early to mid 90s. There's also a retrospective and a return to the area you might be interested in called something like Back to the Point, or something to that effect, which tells you what ended up happening to alot of those girls. It didn't end up being pretty for alot of them, and they mostly ended up like girls around here. Either dead or a little closer to rock bottom.
And in answer to 'what happened', crack happened. Cracks always been around during my mongering days, but back in my early days it seemed the girls had more control and cared more about trying to keep clients coming back. The girls nowadays are so bad on crack that when you do see them on the street they're hurting for a fix so bad that all they want is the money, and if they can get out of doing anything for it they will. Your main goal is to enjoy the girl and have her help you get off, while her goal is to part you with your money in the shortest time possible. I've always known crack was a factor, and I used to let girls I'd pick up go cop their fix and I'd take them away from the area and let them enjoy themselves while I enjoyed myself. Now you can't trust the girls. They don't give a damn if they run off with your money or not. An example is the first girl I met on the street and basically I became who she spent time with and hung around. Everybody knew me as her boyfriend and that's who she said I was if ever asked. When I first met her, she was shooting dilaudid pills, back when dilaudid was about 3 times more the price than it is now. A K4, what they're called, went for between 40-50 back then, and now it runs about 15. She used to be satisfied with one K4 for the entire night. Within a few months of me meeting her, one of her SW 'friends' introduced her to crack. Everything changed then. She needed a new fix every 15-20 minutes. Wide open all night and day, trying to get money wherever and however she could. Even though I never smoked the mess myself and never have directly, I saw the crack lifestyle firsthand. After about 4 months straight going like that, I couldn't deal with it anymore. But it just seemed back then the girls wanted their customers to come back. I don't know if it's the advent of the net and all the ad sites like CL & BP or the easy availability of cell phones, but girls now have a fuck you mentality, and not in a good way.
Talking about the past got me to thinking about how different it is now as to when I started mongering. I got into mongering at the twilight of the heyday of the downtown hooker days. Back then 4th Ave N was known as a place to pick up hookers. Even kids I went to school with knew about the area. When I started the whole area around the post office was popping. The First Light used to be an old, seedy motel called the Granada, where many of the girls who walked the streets around the area would stay. The mini park across from the post office back then was a neighborhood bar called Grammas'. Not only that, but the projects around old Phillips High was filled to the rim, and lots of the girls who lived there would walk the beat, not to mention that's where lots of them got their dope of choice. Both the Granada and Grammas burned within a couple years of each other in the early part of the 90s. Then later the city did their bright revamping of the projects where they threw out 300 to 500 families in each project area they renovate while offering around 150 spaces to apply for. Where they thought the remaining people who lived in the projects would go is beyond me, because that just puts them out into the neighborhoods somewhere and basically brings the drug and hooker problem elsewhere. I also heard that in the 70s before my mongering days that the area around 4th Ave N & 14th to 16th Streets being a hot prostitute area, but if you look at it now you'd never know it. Not even 10 years ago you could ride down 4th and there'd be girls walking all hours of the day and night, and even sitting on the steps of the church across from the Y.
Also, the 3rd Ave W area used to also be a big hot spot, as the Magic club back then was Sammy's, and there was always girls walking down that strip. You could ride through the Town Motel back then because there was no gate on the right side, and girls would always pop their heads out as you rode through. I never will forget the time I rode through there and no less than 10 hot, young, white girls came running out of a room surrounding my car. Alas, back in those days I'd monger with hardly no money, and those hot young things were charging the price of their looks. Oh, to have been rich. I also found back then you could ride down the streets in the neighborhoods behind Sammys and there would be girls walking down them as well, coming from the projects across from Legion Field. Now both areas are also basically dead, which is why it surprised me how active it was the other day.
The 1st Ave area around Woodlawn & East Lake has always been active, and it was as active back then as it is now. That area was where I found my first girl I dated Robin, who I mentioned recently as still being around the area. But the area paled in comparison to the downtown and 3rd Ave areas, which is where my main mongering routes were back then.
While we are strolling down memory lane lets not forget Lynns Den on first avenue and the old Patio lounge. There was also another place can not remember name of on first closer to sears than Lynn's by a block or so. Those were the golden days. Street walkers were mostly clean and some dressed like they were going out for the evening instead of just car fucking. We will not see that again.

That's all because of crack coming into the scene. Around the time that the classy looking ladies of the night disappeared was the same period of time crack was invented. It went from girls wanting to make themselves up nice and actually try to perform to the don't give a damn just get the money at all costs attitudes. Basically you literally went from nice dresses and makeup to blue sweatpants and rotten teeth in no time flat, LOL.

So I keep my money in my pocket and they can go find their way to get their next fix elsewhere. I've told girls I know basically that same thing before all that even starts.

Is the USA motel up on the mountain above Arby's still in business. Used to be an active place but for some time it also had a lot of LE scrutiny.
You know, I've always heard of the areas around Valley Ave and the Homewood area being active, but whenever I've rode through there day or night I've seen nothing. It's just so far off the mongering route to add it to the list of places to hit, not to mention I've never seen anything out that way. I thought I'd mention for any visitors that happen to come through that if you go to the first page of this thread, you'll find my posts of where to find SW in the local Birmingham area. It used to be a sticky to make it easier to find. When the board was revamped, it was put into the SW thread.
My work allowed me a slow day yesterday so I drove thru town instead of using interstates all day. Saw several SW out all over town and can assure that the locations were pretty true to Clark Kent's observations.
At the motel on First and 50th street there was a short slim WSW with black hair down to shoulders and a larger BSW. Both were making it pretty obvious what they were there for.
Third ave west at the Motor Lodge there are two or three BSW as well as another a block away on 2nd ave. These girls seemed happy to stay on the main street and flaunt their business in every one's face also.
Arkadelphia Road around Graymont had the most unusual observation of the day. Sort of a young (25 or so) WSW. This girl is on the verge of becoming BBW. Damn close now. That's why in times past I've allowed some girls to go get their crap and at least get a hit so they can be into it some. Yeah, sometimes you're just not going to get anywhere with some girls. They'll screw you over regardless if they have dope or don't have dope. That's why some I've just been able to profile by watching how they act as you drive by them. If they act like they don't give a shit, or are getting impatient at me riding by a few times, then I'll move along.
