A government grant would certainly help, too! Of course, as any academic knows, all the actual research is done by the graduate assistants, so I hereby volunteer.
Saw the report done on your local prostitution scene. Also, saw that the complete news story was reproduced including this section:
Street prostitutes reported that about 3 percent of the sex acts they performed were "freebies" given to Chicago police officers to avoid arrest, according to a draft report of the study ...
Every reader on this forum should now be sending e-mails to the Chief of Police demanding a full investigation. Make sure every media outlet is made aware of how outraged you are that women are being taken advantage of by the same police hired to protect them. Make sure heads roll.
I strongly encourage you guys living there to make this happen. Man bites dog.
I think it quite unwise to make any noise about the police shaking down SWs. We all know they do it - BFD! What it accomplishes is that it allows many more girls on the street vs. their getting arrested. It also offers a touch of protection to the monger as the girl who pays off the cops is less likely to be busted in the act, ergo you are less likely to be busted.
Just think of them being like donuts - - they both have holes in them.

Bad idea, if you rid the force of all the cops who use SWs, then you would only be left with the unsympathetic cops straight-laced cops who are too damn "by the books" to ever cut a monger or SW a break.

So, take said grant, take 60% and that's what UofC and/or Columbia took off the top. Of course, then the guys doing the research write up their results - and if they're good or lucky or just cheatenous - they'll get several journal articles out of the research, all of which pads their resume and helps them gain tenure. And if they have tenure, a better resume helps with promotion. And if worse comes to worse, they can shop around for another job, then ask if their current affiliation will ante up to keep them happy.
This is not dissimilar to the john/pimp/ho dynamic. I wonder if that was lost upon the research team?

I was out cruising the other night at about 2 am. (and last night for that matter--too cold then and no girls out last night). I saw a great looking blonde on Cicero near the Mcd's on 47th but as soon as I spotted her crossing the street, I spotted a squad circling the block to screw with her. I made another pass 5 min later and it looked like they had her in the back about a block south in one of those open lots. Maybe they read the study and were going to give her a chance to "talk" her way out of the bust.
So I headed East on 47th and I see a cute petite brown haired girl. I turn the corner and she comes up and opens the door and she looked 15 or 16. I am about 95% positive that this chick was not legal so I asked her her name and she said Bunny. Bunny from Oakbrook. I told her she looked young and that if we were going to be friends that she would have to show me id and prove that she is at least 18. Meanwhile, some car pulls up and there is some superfly pimp wondering wtf is going on. He asked me about buying my car, but he was just keeping an eye on her. So I told him that I was not selling my car and that I was trying to have a conversation with the lady and he split. My guess is that he was heading around the block to watch some more as I am betting that he has freshly turned her out. I asked her if that was her "man" and she confirmed that he was her pimp and added that she was lucky to see a pack of smokes after a night of getting guys off. Anyway, she didn't have id so I told her to get out and wished her luck getting back to Lombard. I then saw her out late again the next night further east near LaCoco's east of Archer. I seriously thought about dropping a dime and telling some cop to go get the kid and send her back to mom and dad and high school, but when I came around again in 5 min, she was being put into a paddy wagon in front of the Dunkin at Kedzie and there was a squad there loading her in. So maybe she is back in Lombard, but I would advise other mongers not to get caught with this girl. I don't think a cop or a judge for that matter would be too kind to a guy trying to fuck a 14 or 15 year old. And I hope she ratted out that fucking Superfly and he's in the county instead of her.

The first pic that appeared was a white guy whos arrest location said "160 w ontario" which means he was set up for a sting downtown. And if I am corect he got arrested right outsdie excalibur nightclub or the mother fucking rock and roll mcd's. This is bullshit.
I hit the stroll last Friday late night/ Sat morning - midnight to about 1am.
It was cold out, but saw 2 gals out by 47th and just west of Western. One was short BSW, looked a little rough and the other I think was a taller WSW wearing a brown jacket with the hood on.
I decided to drive a bit further as that was my first pass to see what else was out. Glad I did as a bunch of LE was out that night, even saw a big Chicago's Finest Motor Coach....like they were taking a lagre group for a trip.
I didn't want to go on any free trips so I left.

This is bullshit.[/QUOTE]Not that trying to monger downtown is ever a good idea in my opinion.....its is even more stupid to do it on the weekend in the vicinity of any of the popular nite spots. I have a few family members that are cops and one of them patrols strictly the downtown area, and from what I have been told the cops spend a lot of time doing small stings. They are more so looking for drugs. Their big thing is X and meth, since it is so popular in the clubs.
There used to be a lot of girls working the Rush St area and also the Rock and Roll Mc D's. They would come right up to your car while in the drive through waiting for my Big Mac and ask you for a date with cops right there in the parking lot. Prices quoted were in the escort range of $200-300. Many of them looked like escorts waiting for their next call and trying to make some extra cash. I don't get downtown much anymore but I assume that there are not too many working that area anymore.
