I politely disagree with you assertion that Dayton dining is "totally lacking." You could not be more incorrect.

Downtown alone has some of the best offerings in the region including Jay's seafood, Thai 9, Roost, and Olive (all walking distance from Downtown). Nearby offerings include C'est Tout and the Oakwood Club in Oakwood, the Pine Club by UD, and El Meson (amazing Spanish cuisine) in West Carrollton.

Nearer to Centerville you have Rue Dumaine and Meadowlark.

All of the above are independently owned restaurants not affiliated with any national chain.

There are at least a dozen or more restaurants deserving of mention I haven't named here because of room.

Dayton has some amazing dining offerings. You just have to go out and find / experience them.

I went to C'est Tout for a Christmas eve dinner and it was very good. I highly recommend it. Try their creme brulee you'll love it- guaranteed. If fish is your thing, then Jay's is THE place.
