2) Not sure how LE might track one's cell phone to a car in another parking lot? Seems like we get too many ideas from TV and that these things happen instantaneously without warrants, etc. Tracking a phone would require some sophisticated technology, no? Arrests for this kind of crime are a misdemeanor and as such hard to justify the expense for one dude. Oh, if you are a drug dealer, serial killer or something else felonious then resources might be brought to bear. But then again those crimes are felonies.
3) The key point of the phone is DON'T TAKE THE PHONE WITH YOU INTO A DATE! If you do walk into a sting with your phone, you are cementing your own doom. THAT ties the phone and any conversations you had or any texting you did right to your person. If your phone is not on you then LE needs a search warrant to find it or something else that likely is beyond the scope of a misdemeanor bust.
So all-in-all it sounded like a bad situation what ever it was and the poster was wise to bail and avoid it!
