Cops aren't the only concern.
Really, there is no law against making phone calls. I know some have privacy issues, or want to protect their identity etc. But the cops have nothing but you called / received a call. People call on the phone all the time. No evidence of anything.
I really don't care for one of the dreamy girls or their management personnel calling me for whatever reason whenever they desire.
Drama that a guy could do without
I agree with your basic premise but does the average monger want a cop showing up at their office, or worse, their house, asking questions because their number was one of the last calls made or received by a woman who was beaten or murdered? Sure, they may not be charged with anything but buying a cheap burner phone and spending a few bucks for airtime will save you a hell of a lot of drama.
A non-pro girl that I had been seeing was found dead last summer. The investigating PD obviously dumped her phone and called me on my burner phone. If they had been able to tie a name or address to that phone; they would have come to my house, which would been a bad scene.
The cops wanted to talk to me, so I agreed to meet them at a neutral location. It was like real-life "48 Hours". Late night, parking lot lights, unmarked Chevy Impala, old cop, young cop. I had already heard from the girl's mom, so I knew what was going on. The cops knew, from the girl's mom, that I had a sugar daddy type relationship with the subject, and they didn't seem to have a problem with that. They were more focused on getting leads on her friends and acquaintances. I told them what I knew, which wasn't much. As it turned out; the "I don't do drugs" girl actually did and that's what probably caused her death. Girl's lie, big surprise! Parting shot from the older cop: "be careful out there. ".
So, yeah, phone safety should be a primary concern. Edit: the cops wanted to see the last text I received from the girl. They were surprised to see my elcheapo flip phone and the younger cop asked "does your wife know you have that phone?". In their eyes; only shady characters use cheap phones. I use it because I'm a cheap guy and it serves the purpose.
The cops also seemed quite aware of escort activity in their jurisdiction and mentioned seeing AA pimps in hotel parking lots. Cops and pimps are both bad news. That conversation reinforced my policy of NEVER going to a hotel incall.
Anyone have any info or review on this one?
