She's asking for it to secure the commitment that she has to travel and get accommodations for, and via PayPal not cash and dash.

I asked her about the deposit, and that's exactly why she's asking for some of the funds up front, because she's been burned by too many people-some from this board probably—and she can't do business if she can't make money to cover the expenses. So it's either better secure money so she and the client are committed to the meet, or just increase her rates altogether.

Personally I'm willing to pay it. I know she's worth it, I can pay half one week and then the rest after next payday when we meet. It means I can often budget a little better and buy a longer session and have a lot more fun than just rushing to a one hour at the end of the week. And I've become enough of a regular that she knows I'm good for my commitment. It’s pretty clear this is for new clients she doesn’t know who have flaked before.

If you were a contractor in any other business where customers expected to call you at a moment's notice to drop everything and be ready and full A-game, and the same customer had called you up, made that commitment, then dropped out last minute, after a while you'd start asking for at least a retainer too. I can't even get a Sears furnace guy to look at my heating system without at least giving a credit card number to have on file. If I don't show up for my doctor's appointment they charge me the copay. And I doubt the Sears guy or my doctor will do what CiCi or other providers do.

I guess my suggestion would be: if you don't want to do things her way, then don't. Go find a dozen other BP advertisers you may or may not know are trustworthy. But I don't see much point in knocking her for having a sense of self worth or how she's choosing to distinguish herself in how she does this professionally and with some real thought put into it. You want the 100 dollar half hour Motel 8 fling who watches a clock or keeps answering their phone all the time? By all means, have at.

I've read post after post complaining about the low quality or bleak landscape of women available in this city. You guys post reviews trying to help each other find what you consider worthwhile providers.
