Try this: Continue to ask for information and get your information from other newbies who are as raw as you are. The choice is yours and so is the fault.

Some of these new comers may not only be new to this site but to the hobby as well. That being said, several SMs were very helpful to me when I first arrived and I tried to reciprocate with as much intel as I had, limited though it may have been. You have to be careful when dealing with SMs as some of them not only store info on ladies but on you too. I guess they think info is power so they try wielding it as such. When they feed your info back out to the gals, things can get pretty hectic. I generally trade with a few SMs that I trust on here and don't touch posts by some of the others. If I have a really good experience I'll share it on here but generally if other guys are also posting about a lady I think my info is superfluous. I read back at least 40 or 50 pages, digging into each thread, taking in as much info as I could, reading reviews, the FAQ, and the rules. I must have spent 6 hours that night just reading.
After that, I decided to participate, so I came up with a handle, and put up my first post saying hello and adding some info to an existing thread. A senior member complained that my name was too similar to his, and wanted me to change it, and I ended up in a long discussion with him, asking all kinds of questions about how he used the boards. He answered my questions and made me feel comfortable about posting, and I changed my handle.
After that, I became a posting machine (kind of like here) , putting up reviews and observations, and calling out BS, while OCCASIONALLY putting up requests for information.
Newbies who post or PM questions asking for general advice should get a polite response with a nudge in the right direction and some helpful information. Those who come in with "where do I find the best BBBJCIMNSNQ with BBFSTC from a beautiful spinner in a four-star hotel for under $" as their first posts should be flamed into oblivion.
