This incident was before the general use of internet, when most providers posted on Backpage and the like, when they were still part of local "underground" publications. After being burned dozens of times by bait and switch operations, I had noticed the distinct connection between the performance of bait and switch girls, as opposed to other providers. Obviously we all know now that these are mostly shady pimp ops, where they don't give a shit about repeat customers, or the girls themselves. They just want the girls to get as much of your money as possible and get you out the door quickly.

So, when I finally put that all together through extremely disappointing and expensive experience, I began to learn to look for keys in ads that would steer me toward genuine individual providers. Of course, the pimps know we try to avoid them, and so are always refining their techniques also. Long story short, I began walking away if the "door face" didn't match the "ad face".

Which generally worked okay, except for some squawking from the provider. But.

One fine afternoon, I found myself knocking on the door of a room in a fairly reputable hotel. In fact, a quite nice hotel. When I got the "door face", I politely said "Sorry, you aren't the girl in the ad" and began to walk the hallway to the elevator. I hadn't taken two steps when she called out "Frank", and two guys came out of the room next to hers and caught up with me at the elevator. Since it was mid-afternoon and mostly no guests, the elevator was still there and opened right away. But the lead guy got his foot in the door before it closed. Of course, they demanded money for "wasting her time ". I refused and they became more threatening. But I kept my head, and knowing that they were probably known to LEA, I told them I would pull the emergency stop on the elevator and set off the alarm if they didn't leave. I knew that they would not want to take the chance of causing a scene, and sure enough, after a couple more threats, they backed off. But when I got outside, the bigger mook was already there, must have run down the stairs. He didn't try anything, just followed me to my car and took down my plates.

Nothing else ever came of it, but I can say that my heart was about to jump out of my chest the whole time.

Just saying, good advice and the earlier steps should mitigate the risk of this happening, but always be aware of your surroundings. We can never eliminate all risk, just DO NOT put yourself in shady spots (of course Benz already covered this) and always keep your head. As long as you are in the right surroundings, pimps are at a much greater risk than we are, so remember that. But use that information wisely. Don't be threatening, just be outwardly calm, and keep making progress to safety, not quickly, just steadily.

But Benz' post is excellent advice, just gauge the situation at the door. Sometimes it might be better to blow another 150-200 on a sub-par date than risk this type of encounter. I am sure Benz would agree, no system is perfect, so always be thinking.

Oh, and one P.S.

Once you realize what you are doing is working, and it becomes obvious that they know that you really have the upper hand, it can be kind of a rush. Do NOT get cocky. If you push them in any way, they WILL push back. They respect the threat of the law, not you. A mook is a mook because all he knows is being a bully. At some point, he WILL take the stupid risk of attacking you if he thinks you do not respect him.
